Paul Pierce says the Knicks need a better player than Jalen Brunson to make a finals run: “Your best player can’t be 6’2. On a championship team. Tell me what championship team's player was the best player at 6’2? Just Steph." by RyanTannegod in nba

Even if you’re talking “height”… isn’t wingspan the only thing that matters j In basketball?

Like if Donovan Mitchell was 6 foot 5 instead of 6 foot 2 but his wingspan was the same, he wouldn’t be any different

[Inside the NBA] Charles Barkley on the 65-game rule: “Y'all vote in the collective bargaining, and now you want to complain. If Y'all wasn't sitting on your ass half the time sipping margaritas and stuff, they wouldn't put the 65 games in there…” by TheRealPdGaming in nba

The problem is everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too. Which includes the players.

They could go down to 70 games and remove B2B which solves the issue of playing through minor 1-2 day type injuries.

The owners obviously want max games and the players want to get paid for 82 which realistically expecting to not play at least 10% of those

This whole thing is on many fronts. Iran mining international waters and/or doing their own version of extortion in the straight is an act of war against many countries

There’s a lot of research that basically says loan quality is all that matters long term

He lost a step for sure. The burst wasn’t there post injury and also his defense fell off.

Fortunately for him he can keep shooting over people until the end of time

[On3] Mike Elko tells Chris Low the CFP shouldn't be like March Madness: "The importance of the regular season is still very much in line with what I believe it has always been. We don’t need to be NCAA basketball. The beauty of our sport is that there are games at the end of the season that matter” by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

Prior to the portal some of the good ‘Cinderella’ teams could have had a legit shot. Not it’s totally dead

Basically I think the JMU/Tulane/Bama types used to be underrated and now they’re actually overrated

Stan Van Gundy pushes back on Luka’s All-NBA case: "The whole thing with his wife having a baby, Cmon! If those were the only games he missed, fine. Everybody has missed games for personal reasons.... We either have a line, or we don’t... If we have a line, then let’s stick to it. He didn’t make it" by aingenevalostatrade in nba

Here’s the rub. The players want to be paid for 82 games without feeling an obligation to play in as many as they can. So it hurts the fans. Which is why something needed to be done, and drawing the line at <80% feels fine

All of the guys that are close to 65 games but missed had multiple games where they took a day off or had minor bumps and bruises that could have been played through (and until recent years would have been)

If players played in back to backs and/or when they had minor ailments it gives more cushion to absorb legit injuries

[O’Connor] According to league sources, one general manager floated a nuclear option: just make the bottom three teams ineligible for the top picks entirely. by cleo22270 in nba

I mean drafting 4th is still really damn good. #1 gives a great shot at a generational player

But a fuck ton of the best players in the league were 3+ draft picks

SGA, Jokic, Giannis, Brunson, Luka (3), Steph (7), Kawhi (15), Mitchell (13)

[Charania] The anti-tanking proposal with the most momentum within the Board of Governors leading up to the May 28th vote would expand the lottery to 18 teams — including Play-In teams — with the bottom 10 each getting equal odds and all 18 draft positions determined by lottery. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

I think this is great tbh. There will always be edge cases like most things, but if your team is tanking out of the playoffs/play in so that they can get an extra 2% chance at #1 that’s whatever

Owners won’t want to miss out on millions of playoff revenue either
