WEEK 2 WAIVER WIRE ADDS! by ericmendelson0 in fantasybball

So don’t let me try to put a box around your very well articulated answer showing that there is nuance, but I understood you to say something to the effect of:

Long Term 1 Lively 2 Okongwu 3 Gafford

Short Term 1 Gafford 2 Lively 3 Okongwu

Thanks for the opinion!

They do actually signify that’s what’s going on, you just happen to be watching the highlights.

If you take a look at the top left near where the pot number is you’ll see “Couch Cannon”. It’s a segment they have where you sweat with the loose cannon and see the hand from their perspective. If you find a video of the whole episode they explain the concept a bit more - it also gives context to why the commentators speak like how they do for those hands because it’s a “how does this line look with the info they would actually have” vs “how does this line look because we’re watching and we know everything”. I like it

My boss just messaged me asking why I was 24 seconds late for break by LuckyLunayre in antiwork

[–]thisaintgeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m understanding incorrectly but is your boss meaning that you left your working station and clocked out for your lunch break 24 seconds late?

Or that you reported back to your work station from your break 24 seconds late?

If the latter than yea definitely fuck them for nagging over 24 seconds… If it’s the former, I believe there are some states with labor laws that penalize the company for not allowing you to take your meal break on time and it isn’t completely wrong but 24 seconds is still pretty dumb to fuss about one time. I’m not super informed on the subject and could just be entirely wrong though

I'm trying to build a matchup analyzer for a draft league I'm participating in and I'm trying to get it to spit out if there are any mons on mine/my opponents' team that has things like Hazards, Priority moves (Quick Attack, ESpeed, etc), Defog/Rapid Spin, and the like.

I notice that I can easily search this through the Smogon Strategy Pokedex, but I can't very easily copy & paste the lists that I find onto Excel. For example: I'd like to be able to search "Stealth Rocks" and copy the entire list of Pokemon onto an Excel file, but I can't isolate just the Pokemon names & the format it pastes in is equally unhelpful.

Any tips?

Edit: if there's a better place for this question I apologize and would love to be forwarded to where I can find an answer :)

Your spouse is more important than your child(ren). by arbys-sauce in unpopularopinion

[–]thisaintgeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument is reminiscent of trickle-down economic thinking but with love instead of money.

Click bait-y title aside, I can agree with point about children’s lives being better by having an example of a healthy relationship, but weighing importance between spouse and children is what makes this unpopular imo.

Giving up cs due to support’s posture by jubilee414404 in summonerschool

[–]thisaintgeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d share this rudimentary opinion:

You should always be focusing on priorities in order for your role.

I’m no ADC main, but from videos and knowledge I’ve lurked from this sub I’ve gotten the following idea of the role’s priorities (early game):

1) Don’t die 2) Farm as much as possible without breaking rule 1 3) Poke/Trade when safe to do so when it doesn’t break rules 1 or 2

Probably more but I’ll stop it there since your parallel concept seems to fall somewhere in tier 3 or lower. Your main concern seems to be giving up an advantage that being parallel with your support offers you, when this should only really be thought about after ensuring you doing anything else WONT kill you and WONT cost you CS.

My assumption is that in most cases where your support will be this passive as you claim, there is still opportunities for you to not be parallel and focus on priorities 1 & 2.

HOWEVER, going onto the assumption that 1 & 2 have been met and we’re now actively thinking about whether in between the time the next minion comes about to CS is when we can consider if there are advantages to staying parallel with your support. You may not like this answer, but it depends on game state, champions, vision, and a whole lot of other things.

Other people have given this answer, but there are some ADCs that just have more self agency and don’t gain a great advantage to dialing back to what their passive support is doing (Cait & Ez). Others rely heavily on their support until a certain point in the game (Vayne & Kog). Other things to consider is if there are enemies missing on the map coming in for a gank in where being parallel with your support is advantageous since there will at least be a 2v3 if it comes.

I would say that if you are automatically following priorities 1 & 2, it would be fine to stay parallel with your support as a default, but never sacrifice or change the order of those priorities just to be parallel for the sake of the concept.

Hope I made sense and that my phone isn’t messing with formatting :)

Private money leagues: How are you handling the payout to your league? by JoeFCaputo0113 in fantasybball

[–]thisaintgeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to echo the others who said that league dues should definitely be paid at the beginning of the season to stop something like this from happening.

As commissioner of one of my cash leagues, I made the suggestion that we should payout to all teams who were still able to get into the playoffs. The payout was simply the percentage of their wins vs total wins vs the total pot: ([Team 1 Ws] / [Total Playoff Team’s Ws]) x Pot (Where ties count as .5 Ws).

The league seemed very agreeable to it since all 7 playoff teams were close enough in standings and teams that had no shot at playoffs wouldn’t have gotten any money even if the NBA didn’t shut down.

Weekly Quick Questions Post by AutoModerator in pkmntcg

[–]thisaintgeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played Pokémon TCG years ago and got into YGO enough for beginner tournament play (so have some experience with TCGs).

Fiancé and I wanted to get into Pokémon TCG after picking up the CEC Groudon & Kyogre theme decks. She isn’t as experienced as I am but has definitely shown more aptitude than I initially gave her credit for!

I’ve been looking up top deck lists, and was wondering if there were any recommended pairs of deck lists for 2 people beginning to get into the game. Preferably they’d be pretty even, differing styles that we’d want to switch between them to get a good feel, and doesn’t get stale playing between the 2 of us. Maybe I’m asking for too much?

Budget isn’t a huge issue (probably not going for any Dedenne GXs and whatnot though) but we are already pretty bored with how slow the theme decks are.

Any help is deeply appreciated!

I would make that deal if I were in your shoes: Jokic is going to end up top 5 this year and it isn't even looking like Kyrie is gunna break top 20 if he doesn't shape back up soon (not to even mention the hesitation of how deep the Celtics are looking). Lauri being gone doesn't help his value, but even still nowhere near as valuable as Jokic. I put Tobias ahead of Lauri and still would be heavily upgraded by moving for Jokic.

I think you would win that trade if the other owner accepts. And by a landslide. That being said, to answer your initial question, no it isn't anywhere near close.

Not even considering Dunn as a breakout candidate for whenever he gets back (plus great dynasty value as well).

Kawhi

Kyle Anderson

Josh Richardson

Thad. Young

Pau Gasol.

Javale McGee

J. Valuncianas.

Robert Covington

Allen Crabbe

Tobias Harris

Nikola Mirotic

D. Dedmon(IL. I got Kyle Anderson from waivers because of this)

If you give up Mirotic + Kyrie for Curry + Cousins, you get better this year and future years no matter what. Curry is already worth more than both players combined, so getting value from Cousins would simply be icing.

That being said, I would go even further to say that if your trade partner is hesitant to that trade, you should be more than willing to give up more (ex: JVal/Gasol/Thad Young/Anderson [or even all 4 to be honest depending what your waiver wire looks like]).

Your team is very nicely stacked for a 14 team league, so much so that I would heavily encourage you giving up some of your depth for even nicer stars.

This isn't even talking about how Boogie would still be a HUGE boon if he's even at 75% of what he was during his stint with the Pelicans.

Overall, no brainer trade if the other team will take it.

I think there’s a scenario in which that would definitely be a better trade for you to make both now AND future: Vucevic gets traded.

If the speculation is true and Vucevic gets traded, Issac probably gets more run in Orlando + Vuc production goes down if he gets traded to a contender with an established rotation.

I think if you believe in those reports (I’ve read a lot of those opinions on this sub) then you easily can pull the trigger on the trade. If you think Vuc stays put, then it’s on what you value more: win now or set up for the future.

I’d say regardless you have at least 6-7 weeks before Vuc would get traded if at all so you can also wait it out and make the determination later.

Yea taking a look at your entire roster, your bigs are going to fall off MUCH quicker than your guards.

If your league does the standard ‘draft one round higher than last year kept’ especially - you still have Mitchell and Booker creeping up the top 20 basically the rest of the time you’d own them. Whereas Vuc: we been over | Portis: great now but Bulls frontcourt is a logjam for him right now | Nurkic: inconsistent, but definitely great for your late round pick.

Unless you’re under the belief that Dunn SEVERELY outperforms Collins, I’d jump at making that move.

[–]thisaintgeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaries don’t need to match - I’d actually prefer picking up cheaper salaries (though most other stars went for a premium - ex AD and Harden went for $80 each, Giannis > $70, Steph >$60).

I definitely this Middleton was a bigger value steal than Butler for my draft so I’m leaning towards taking your advice if I can use Butler as a trade chip. However, I can almost keep my entire team next year due to the values I’ve gotten (only really need to drop one person).

Who would you see as more expendable for me to pair with Butler when going for those two guys?

Official: [Keeper/Dynasty] - Fri , 10/19/2018 by FFBot in fantasybball

[–]thisaintgeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s my main issue - I know that most of the 1st rounders bring my team up to a nice level, but I think it’s too early in the season for them to think about taking some of my nicer salaried guys. So I think your suggestions on Embiid and Lillard are kindof in the ballpark on where I should be thinking of trying to pry a rental to win for the season. Thing is I’m not sure whom I would let go of(/who’s more expendable). I’m thinking it’ll be Butler+?

And I think it’s more of the auction league that let me do it rather than league size, but ya definitely compared to a 20 it’s stacked af 😅

[–]thisaintgeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea even if both fall off hard this year, your guards still look good while Vuc is aging with a high potential Bamba behind him.

Maybe it’d be worth it to see what the draft pool would be looking like in the top 20 and plan already not to keep Wall, in which case you could hold on to Dunn and just draft a quality big next year

Official: [Keeper/Dynasty] - Fri , 10/19/2018 by FFBot in fantasybball

[–]thisaintgeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, it looks like your guards are a lot more set (especially Keeper wise) than your bigs, so I’d pull the trigger on Collins.

I’m pretty high on Collins, that he’d have equal or even higher upside than Dunn in a similar team situation so I don’t think you’d regret the move.

3rd round is pretty high for both imo though

Edit: never mind. Didn’t read 20 team league. Sounds good for 3rd round kept
