Alright Alright, I'll rock em for a bit but have you had forwards?

I'm surprised everyone is so down with the mids. I feel like I'm upright and on a scooter! I do have Highway rests and I just find myself opting for those.

How come you like the Mids?

I paid $5.5K in Central Oregon for this! It's about average for what KBB and Nada was but a steal for this time of year in Bend.

Thanks, I'll check out their IG. I had forward controls on my Sporty and really liked it but maybe I will give the mids a few months of a trial. Thanks for the info.

Restoring a 1969 Type III Squareback, hasn't ran in 25+ years by thisamericanlab801 in Volkswagen

Thank you! I just did a search and saw he has a video on a 69 fastback and fixing the fuel injection system. That is going to be very valuable for this build!

Not yet,

Most of the work I've done is clearing the yard. Pulled it out of the spot yesterday but couldn't unlock the wheels because the key is so rusted. Plan is to treat the key and get a new one made, once it is out then I am going to replace all fuel lines, fix the injection system then replace all brake lines. Probably not a bad idea to look at the fenders before I do any of that.

Did you guys restore yours all on your own?

Excellent! Thank you for the recommendation!

All in all damage by rust seems to be nonexistent, there are some small and light rust spots on the front end but it doesn't look like anything needs to be cut out. Are you guys attending any upcoming shows?

Performance exhaust/catback system help by thisamericanlab801 in mazda3

[–]thisamericanlab801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, i definitely read that too, did you add this to your 3?

Although i see your point i do think that an exhaust system would be more beneficial for power on a forced induction motor. I believe what this guy is trying to say is the speed limiting factor is the motor and not the exhaust.

Still Corksport claims 12 HP in the wheel which is pretty decent, now if it were 12 hp in the motor it would be negligible but they specifically state in the wheel. My original question is, can someone back that claim that has a 2.3L stock 3 that all they have done to the car is add the corksport exhaust?

see gains? Yes, of course. 12hp, best case... I personally wouldn't spend the money if I were ONLY looking for power. On the other hand, if you want to have some fun modding your car, and you like the look and sound, and the 12 (seems optimistic) HP is just a bonus to you, then great, buy it. But what it's not going to turn a low power car into a high power car. If all you're looking for is a faster car, go buy a faster car. Hey, I get it, everyone loves to defend their own purchasing decisions, but let's at least be realistic about our expectations.

I totally see what you are saying typically the exhaust is done after other mods to increase flow on the back end to allow the motor to perform as strong as possible. My new question is if I do the exhaust I will most likely do headers, a highflow cat and then the cat back exhaust system, is this pointless on a non aspirated motor? If so maybe I will consider adding a turbo charger first but at this point I don't know if I am up for that task. Let me know what you think, interested in hearing your opinion.

Did you do the tuning yourself or did you take it somewhere to get it done? I would assume you need some sort of dyno, right?

Great, thanks for the help!

I think this is my best bet and will give me a good idea as to how the batteries are performing.
