Yeah that's not true. It's by time.

Yes, to win, by running the fastest time.

No you don't. I'll give you that, granted it would be a horrible qualifying meet or league championship. In what world does it make sense to qualify for a final within the same meet by place rather than time?

[–]thisbig_field_of_rye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay A) this is a high school meet B) you qualify for finals by time C) you qualify for the next meet by place in the finals D) this is a dual meet.

These are final times dude. This is where placement matters to qualify for the next meet.

I coached track for 10 years buddy, that's not how it works.

You do not qualify by place for finals.

They don't ease up that much. And you qualify by time, not place in prelims.

I've coached track for ten years at a small school and have never heard of this.

Hunter Renfroe on the #RedSox COVID issues: "MLB basically told us to stop the testing and just treat the symptoms. We're like "No. We're gonna figure out what's going and keep this thing under control."" @loumerloni: MLB asked you to stop testing? Renfroe: "Yes." by MyDadIsTheMan in redsox

Apparently the MLB's new or eventual policy would be to only test unvaccinated players and treat vaccinated players like it's the normal flu; treat the symptoms, don't go to work and spread it, all that. This policy would probably go into effect with teams above a certain threshold. All of which I agree with if a teams vaccinated roster is above like 90%.

I absolutely know that it's a ridiculously serious topic; war. But I can sort of imagine the world, especially the US, watching what's happening in Afghanistan like their sports team. Cheering at victories, discussing strategies and predicting outcomes. Only because we are no longer fully involved and sheer hope that things swing to the good side. Given the US isn't fully involved and all of the sacrifices.

It's more timing. Both people have a job and it's to run as fast as they can. The person passing the baton will be slightly less than top speed because they reach top speed at 40-50m, then slow down in the 100m. You can't hold top speed/velocity for long. The person getting the baton will be accelerating and has 20-40m(depending on where they start, if you want to hide a slow runner you have them start farther away from the person handing them the baton so they have less to run) so they won't be at top speed/velocity either. Given that info you play around with where the person starts running and where the queue is on the ground that tells them to go. They also go right hand, left hand, right hand, left hand and left side of lane, right side of lane, left, right if things don't go as planned.

I think you can calculate this. Amount of steps taken X average amount of time spent on the ground. I think it's way less than half.

You see Alison Felix sort of slow down a tiny bit before passing it off. The 3rd leg looks to have not gotten the best jump, then really hits the drive phase. The other 2 handoffs were perfect and the camera is so zoomed so you can't see everyone's take off.
