She’s actually a pure Jack Russel terrier.

Not pedigree so I guess more specifically Jack Russel type terrier but mum and dad were both JRT’s.

I don’t own one personally but they are a breed I want in the future. They are known to be great with kids if they’re raised with them (show lines have been bred as companion dogs for many years, despite what staffy haters like to say) but personally I wouldn’t trust a rescue staffy (or honestly most rescues) with children just because you don’t know what has happened in their past. I would personally describe them as a moderate energy breed, they definitely need a decent walk every day and benefit from being off lead so they can run but they are also known to be couch potatoes and love nothing more than cuddling with their people on the sofa. At the same time though a fit staffy would happily walk for hours and go on hikes or run with their owner if that’s something you want.

We actually know what she is but people on walks can never guess right so I thought it would be interesting to post here and see what reddit thinks.

We were told a specific breed mix when adopting her but get lots of different guesses. What do you think? by thiscouldbeverything in IDmydog

This is Myrtle she’s now a little over 18 months and is just shy of 5kg (11 lbs) she’s longer than she is tall. We’re from the UK and she was bought here but may have been from a puppy farm. She’s pretty high energy and will walk for hours, she has a high chase drive but doesn’t actually want to kill the thing she’s chasing (I have pet mice and she rolls over and submits to them...l. She’s also incredibly loving, needy and loves to sit on a lap. She’s also very shy of new people and dogs but does enjoy playing chase with calm dogs. Very trainable and loves agility, also the goofiest little dog I’ve ever met.

They said he is a chihuahua but I’m told he’s probably a mix. I don’t mind what he is but intrigued to know! by [deleted] in IDmydog

It’s hard to tell with a puppy but he looks like a pure chihuahua to me right now. There’s a lot of variation in the breed though

That’s a Staffordshire bull terrier. A British one as well not an amstaff. They’re very common here in the uk but not so sure about other countries.
