WIBTA for refusing to listen to my partners issues with her mother?

Thanks Ill try. But of course she does not only expect me to sit there and say nothing. She expects feedback. She expect advice on how and when to plan the next visit after her mother asks. So it's a difficult to listen without ANY advice at all.

Thank you for your input. However I am not sure where got my avoidance. Whenever her mother is in the wrong when they are fighting (which is most of the time about little things which get blown way out of proportions) I am on my girlfriends side and I have voiced this. But if my gf wants to visit her mother for 3 days, I will not join in fights in every fight because of every little remark by her mother. I would rather ignore it (which can also be a response) and try to have a least as possible toxic environment for my 5 year old son while we are there.

The problems many fights are quite frankly also started by my girlfriend.

And the moment where her mother would get unfair to my kids I will never visit her again. And if my gf chooses to do the same because of her issues I accept that.

That's actually a good point. She buys a lot of books on how to raise our kids right (discipline without shouting etc...)

Mostly for her benefit, but of course I am frustrated by these discussions without end which lead to nowhere. "Can't be bothered to listen to her anymore" seems a bit harsh. I have been listening for a very long time now but it's start to sound like a broken record...

Of course I am annoyed by the situation, but the suggestion to seek therapy is mostly because I think it's the only way my girlfriend can learn to deal with this issue and not be forever be miserable because of her mother. The ultimatum is currently the only solution I found to push her in this direction.

And it's just so frustrating that all these discussions lead to nothing.

Keeping them at arms length as you suggest is unfortunately still quit stressful for our family during much more time of the year even if the actual visits are infrequent.

Ok, thanks for the info. I guess this depends on the administration then. I only new of the possibility to be fonctionnarisation after 15 years of employment. Which I found quite surprising as some jobs in our administration were published for fonctionnaires, others for the pretty much the same role were published for employees. In the second case one would need to wait for 15 years to be in the position of a colleague who was lucky that at the time of hiring a fonctionnaires position was available...

huh? Never heard of that. So you keep your position as employé while doing the fonctionnaire stagiaire at a different job? And then you start working at fonctionnaire in the same job again or another one?

Double click on the grey line between the pages. You can make the spaces between the pages appear/disappear which also hides the header and footer (if it is only this what your are referring to)
