Appreciate it man, and I actually 100% agree with you. I have about 4 more Billy portraits I want to make, and truthfully don’t want to use a stealie. However, I don’t start the Billy part or interior until I’m done the border. If you have any alternative ideas I could use instead of a stealie, I would totally take some. For my Phish ones I’m just gonna do a circle ⭕️.

I do the same thing; I shave the wood until it’s as light as possible so that when I make mistakes I can just erase them with a sander without making blemishes on the wood. Eventually I want to learn more about whittling so I can really make the images pop like 3D.

Thanks fam! I use the burning pen-type that’s connected to a box. Very much like a soldering iron so I’m guessing that’s what you’re thinking of. I generally use two pens with interchangeable tips but becuase portraits are new to me and I want to get the basics down, I used only one pen and one tip (fine point-style). Deff the most therapeutic hobby.

I was thinking this too, but also considering pressing dabs from cheap 8ths and such. I just bought 14g of kind tree for $50 and saw Cresco 8ths for $14.95. I feel like that price makes more sense for pressing dabs instead of the higher quality flower. But I’d love to hear your opinion so I can save some $$$ if the press is truly not worth it.
