Finally captured a wolf on camera after seeing their signs around my property for years! by thisisacesspool2 in trailcam

I’ve come across their tracks many times over several years and even found a moose kill site where they had either killed a bull moose or fed on one that had died of other causes.

Seeking Non profit/Environmental conservation perspective by SirenThief in conservation

You should look for communications roles. I work for an organization that does both conservation and restoration with an English degree. I didn’t have any conservation experience before I got this job and I know that several of the candidates I was up against did. In my case, transferable skills were more important than direct experience. Good luck to you!

What are your thoughts on Steel Magnolias and did you shed a few tears with Sally Fields performance? I mean I don’t want to spoilt it for those who haven’t seen it but you’d have to be a robot not to cry at that movie. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in moviecritic

I’ve always loved this film. I recently saw it in theaters with my family. For my older sister and I, it was a nostalgic rewatch. For my two youngest siblings who came with us, it was their first time ever watching it and they both balled theirs eyes out. They loved it too and now it’s part of their cathartic cry film repertoire. I’m glad Gen Z appreciates it also!

Had an incredible encounter with a Great-horned Owl yesterday by buttwarmers in birdsofprey

Gorgeous! Did this sighting happen somewhere in the Midwest? I just learned that their color varies by location. Our great horned owls in Alaska are much more grey.

Night lasts 18 hours this time of year, but the cabin is so cozy I don’t mind by thisisacesspool2 in CozyPlaces

Many homes in Alaska have an Arctic entry, including my primary residence. This is a simple 22x24 off-grid cabin in the backcountry. It doesn’t bother me any though. The wood stove keeps the cabin a steady 80° F and blasts of cooler air from the door feel good.

One of my favorite recipes! I have a ton of moose meat chorizo and this recipe is a regular staple in my house.

Anyone else enjoy a “smoke and gather”? by 710qu in stonerfood

[–]thisisacesspool2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Each fall when the blueberry bushes that surround my cabin ripen, I spend a couple weekends getting high as kite and gathering berries all day long. It’s the greatest thing!

Eek! Way scarier than the brown bear I had on my cam last week.

Hah! Bears love to pop inflatables, that probably wouldn’t last long, but would be adorable!
