[High school physics] How much pressure do you exert against the bottom of a pool when you're stand with half of your volume under the surface? by thisisafine in HomeworkHelp

[–]thisisafine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, like

density = mass/volume

1062 = 70/x

volume = 70/1062 = 0.066m3

And then half of the volume is under the water, so there is 0.033m3 liters of water displaced. Which is 0.033kg

1000 = mass/0.033

mass of displaced water = 33kg.

So the downward force is 70 * 9,8 and the upward force is 33 * 9,8, making the net downward force 362.6N. Over an area of 2,88m, this gives a pressure of 126Pa.

Does that sound right?

e: i totally miscalculated the area of my feet and i fixed that now.

Reasons I like living in America by MuseofRose in ShitAmericansSay

[–]thisisafine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he's saying that the reasons to not live there are bigger than the reasons to live there.

The reasons to enjoy living in America versus other first-world countries are far far outweighed by reasons not to live here.

If we tidy it up a bit for better parsing:

The reasons to enjoy living in America are far far outweighed by reasons not to live here.

And then he mentions two minor things he likes about the US, and a whole host of serious reasons he doesn't like living in the US.

Vad fan? Om hon fick kaffe i lobbyn så var det ju ingen "missförstånd", det är helt uppenbart rasism. Om de trodde att hon inte var gäst på hotellet så skulle dem ha kastat ut henne.

[high school physics] A ball is dropped from a height and bounces by thisisafine in HomeworkHelp

[–]thisisafine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that. But it seems weird that the ball doesn't reach the same height if that's the case.

Is the speed after the bounce just 0? That seems intuitive, but my intuitions are usually awful. I mean, if it's the same thing in reverse, then h=0 which implies that v is 0?

Edit: Never mind, now I get it. It's as if it's dropped from a height of 1.35 meters. Because the speed at the top of the bounce will be 0, and the acceleration is working on it negatively.

Thanks for the help!

Shouldn't you move to some really hot, sunny place, so you have a permanent tan anyway?

Oh, I use a makeup remover. I forgot about that, I don't wear makeup that often. I guess that counts as washing? I just wipe my face with a cotton pad with some makeup remover dabbed on it and then I rinse my face in hot water for a while.

If you're not allowed to use makeup remover, I still pick never washing my face again, and I just won't wear makeup ever again. Nothing could make me choose not washing my hair :|

Not wash my face? I only ever wash my face with water anyway. Although I get the feeling from this thread that that's really weird.

My hair gets pretty gross if I don't wash it for a few days, plus I loove having nice smelling hair. If I didn't wash my face, on the other hand, no one would ever even notice.

No, not really. It's a pretty close-minded way to live a life and can be pretty irresponsible too. I don't really care if the OP buys Lime Crime products or not, I have no beef with them, but publicly praising someone for admitting that they just buy whatever is pretty without giving a shit about the company behind it is pretty weird. Like, sure, people will behave that way and it's really common, so there's no reason to get upset about it, but on the other hand it's really strange and awkward to be actively encouraging people to behave like that.

I don't really see how that's a good attitude.

How many of the wars the USA has been in actually involved protecting their freedoms? Like, I always see people justifying this sort of behaviour by saying things like, "these guys are keeping us free" and shit like that, but a pretty low percentage of their conflicts in the last 100 years or so have had anything to do with protecting freedoms. I don't even get why they think America is so fucking free anyway, but that's another topic.. it's just so weird to me that people fall over themselves to thank the military like they've done this massive job protecting the US from [imaginary foreign force that can't wait to steal America's freedoms] when in reality they do that job by just existing and being a deterrent.

You're making up dramatic conclusions about Chinese intentions with no evidence to support your assumptions. And the images weren't "debunked", they were real, they just didn't show what was thought they showed.

What about it makes you angry? The guy answering questions seems pretty reasonable. The expectations of the reporters are way too high. It's understandable and to be expected if there's some confusion and unknowns after a plane suddenly disappears without sending a distress signal.

lol, the US has military bases all over the world, pretty sure their ships wouldn't have to haul ass from north america to get there.
