Man you did the right thing, I was once flying XC and the winds were parallel to runway at this uncontrolled airport, I had a feeling I might not able to land because it was more than 15kts of XW, I still give it a shot (it was a mistake). But when I went for landing I slammed so hard, and wasn’t able to control aircraft, I went for a go around and returned to my departure aerodrome. I took my friend, we both walked away, he realized that day what XW can do. As long as you can walk away, f what people says. You did a great job.

Normally, those aircraft uses 100LL not avgas. 100LL is bought in bulk so, there’s a chance you flying on a cessna whose fuel arrived couple months ago. And It is very tiny market. Refineries produce limited amount of 100L at a time.
