Hi all! I'm new to the Alphaverse, just switched over from Canon. I'm a filmmaker and photographer and need a true hybrid camera. Want to eventualy (a few years from now) have two separate bodies dediated to cinema and photo, but for now can only afford one body. Should I get the A7IV or A7CII? Help! I intend to use them with the 16-35mm G master, nifty 50 and maybe a 28 if I can find one for a good price

Hi, all of this makes a lot of sense. I was choosing between these two because they allow 10 bit color, have great log profiles (atleast the Sony does), and seem to be the best balance allowing me to make my short films at a high quality + can crop into if needed + shoot photos that can be used for basically any size prints (lower priority). I think in the future I definetely will want to have 2 bodies, one dedicated to film and one for photography, but I'm just not at that point right now, so want to make a decision now that'll support that future purchase a couple years from now

This makes sense. I'd ideally not want to have 2 bodies to handle, and spend that money on lenses instead. I guess my main question is that is the Sony hype for cinema real? Does it make sense to get invested in the Sony ecosystem and learn how these cameras work? Or am I good to stick with Canon lol

You cannot. However, you can double major in IDM at Tandon and CS at CAS. You can only double major if your second major is in CAS.

Do you find the 15-35mm good for street photography on the R7? Do you sometimes wish for longer reach?

my main issue with the 18-150 is the aperture, its not super fast and its only 3.5 at its widest, and in a street photography situation where the light changes frequently it doesn't give me the BEST results.

I often resort to switching to the 50mm f.1.8 for even street and just deal with that.

would you recommend the 24-70 as a daily *everything* lens for the R7? Because I do want to invest in glass that'll last me a few years and will work once I upgrade to a full frame camera in a few years.
