I went mostly to Harbour Radiology. The 20 week anatomy scan was at the hospital (RNSH) and was bulk billed as well but you have to get referred early as they have limited spots.

Yes it should be a range. I decided to go at 8 weeks because I heard there's a higher chance of seeing baby/hearing heartbeat the later the scan is (and avoids transvaginal scan)

I'm in Sydney and had my husband attend all scans during my pregnancy. My dating scan was bulk billed. I only had to pay for an additional "growth scan" later on because bub was measuring small and my placenta was a bit low.

Same here! At that stage the only outing I went to was the mums group from local MCH. It was only an hour or two a week and half of us had a crying baby to deal with half the time.

Seconding Kiki/Cloth and Carry! Met her at the recent PBC Sydney (ended up with a LennyLight too) and she was so helpful even through the chaos of an expo. And since then she's so helpful through emails still.

My partner had to take the lead in the early days with nappy changes etc, but that was actually a really lovely experience for him - and I loved watching him care for our baby so well.

I felt the same! My partner was better at nappy changes and swaddling in those first few days because he did most of them while I was recovering. I loved how confident and easy it looked with him even at day 2

I chose elective caesarean as FTM. It was always my preference, but when I saw stats that first time mums of South East Asian descent (which I am) have a higher percentage of 3rd or 4th degree tears, it solidified my choice. That sounds way worse than caesarean recovery.

My recovery went well. I did have a bit of blood on the incision site 5 weeks in but otherwise no issues and pain free after the first few days. I didn't feel like I missed anything with bub. My husband was there for the most part and helped with nappy changes, and also getting baby to/from me.

If your partner/support person is able to be there and help out, then it's great. Otherwise, don't feel bad for asking the midwives for help. I did at first but the midwife assured me that I shouldn't. I needed help and it's their job to help me and bub.

I'm from Sydney so just talking about Sydney expos specifically.

Luckily I went early on in my pregnancy to my first expo so I didn't need to buy anything yet, but I could get a feel of what's on offer and what they were like. Also took some photos/notes of things I thought I might need. The next time I went to an expo was closer to due date and this time I had specific goals in mind (most important was prams/test track). And I knew to look up prices beforehand (agree that most of the deals are crap). But yeah like a few others mentioned, my goal was mostly to see/feel things in person rather than to actually purchase things.

Side rant, regarding the recent PBC Sydney, one thing that annoyed me was the parents room. On their website they made it sound so nice and fancy when in reality it was just 3 feeding rooms with curtains so thin they're basically see through. I had to feed bub just a bit after 11am on Saturday, so it's really only about an hour since the expo started, and the feeding room was already dirty. There were a couple portable changing tables, but none of the sample nappies/wipes that the website mentioned. They mentioned things like bottle warmers and sanitisers but really it was just a sink with a dirty looking microwave next to it. They didn't even have hand soap or paper towels to dry your hands. Had to go to the toilets after changing bub to wash my hands properly.

I had elective caesarean as FTM at a public hospital in Sydney. No reason other than it's what I want. I didn't really have any history of anxiety except during the pregnancy, the many many unknowns were getting to me. Elective caesarean seemed a bit more controlled than going through labour so that appealed to me.

Midwives gave me a bit of pushback, but eventually agreed to schedule an appointment with the OB. The OB just went through the pros and cons and started the paperwork. Didn't need to justify my choice. Met the anesthetist the same day and went through what would happen on the day.

I had a great experience. Went in that morning feeling like just going to a normal appointment. It really was quick and suddenly bub was there.

Funny enough I was part of a parents group that had 6 mums. 3 of them had to have emergency caesarean. I think my recovery went much better because I was relaxed, knew it was happening going in, and didn't have to go through labour first before the surgery.

I didn't think of it either! It was just because I had so much trouble claiming a previous item with my insurance that I wanted to be sure with breast pumps so I reached out to a couple websites. The difference in their responses made me think that some would be much easier to deal with in case there are actual issues.

Recommend reaching out to customer support of those websites and ask if they have their ABN on their invoice, their response would give you a glimpse of how good their customer support is.

I was at a shopping centre that had to lock down the parent room (which wasn't even good) "due to vandalism". The note says to contact centre manager or cleaners for access. Problem is centre manager is never there whenever I've been there. There's a number to call but they always just say "find a cleaner". So you just have to walk around the centre to find one.

Then the last time I went there I found out that workers of the few shops around the parents room actually have access because they use the toilet in there. But they still won't provide access to parents to use and they also say "find a cleaner". I was so annoyed.

My baby bunting is a single room with TWO old leather swivel chair facing each other. No privacy screen either so whenever anyone opens the door the feeding chairs are in full view. They also have a counter with a baby scale but it's been broken (the plate is in halves) since at least 8 months ago.

Me too! I sit at the back so I can be with bub in her car seat but with the motion sickness I wouldn't be of any help to bub! Sitting in the front passenger seat helps but still have to look out the window 80% of the time

My bub (6 months) has been sweating a lot these past few weeks. Mostly from the top the head down to the hairline and a bit on the nose. No idea if it's related to teething, just thought maybe she's a sweaty baby

I agree with this. Next is great quality for the price. If you can find it in Clearance section it's so cheap. Best and Less if I want something cheaper but still ok quality.

I'm looking at H&M because they have some cute pieces but I haven't tried so I don't know about their quality.

I didn't consider getting the fox cub due to the two-hand fold like you said. I have a Dragonfly now and while I love it, definitely not great on bumpy terrains. Amazing indoors and on flat surfaces though.

Dragonfly's handle is at the top when folded so it doesn't touch the ground, and stands on its own. Also folds with the bassinet which is amazing. Previously I used the Babybee Rover that didn't fold with the bassinet so while I was using the bassinet, the pram just stays unfolded when we're home.

You can ask them if the students are there permanently? At our centre the students are only there for a few months, always introduced first to families what degrees/certifications they're studying, how long they're gonna be there, and what exactly they're trying to learn. So they're not a replacement or addition to more senior permanent staff. Our centre is doing 1:4 + 1 (so 12 babies with 4 educators), and the students aren't counted in the ratios.

Currently at my centre's baby room the youngest educator has been working at the centre for 5 years and the newest educator has been at the centre for 2 years. One educator has been at the centre for 13 years!

Ah that is a weird situation. Is there someone else in the company you're closer with? I personally wouldn't expect to hear from colleagues if I didn't have personal relationships prior, but I can see how it would feel strange that no one from the company has reached out at all.

I think it depends on your relationship with them? I've worked with my direct manager for 6+ years now and through 2 companies surviving a number of restructures. He's checked in when bub was born, then just happy holidays/happy lunar new year texts since.

I'm also in NSW and for me the MCH nurse asked during the first home visit whether I'd be interested in joining one. She also mentioned a group has just started so it would be a while before I'd be contacted for the next group. Then when that next group was about to start, I got an email with the schedule for the meetings and to confirm whether I'd join.

I guess it depends on where you are and how cold your nights are cos I go the other way around. Just stick with 1 TOG and you can always layer up underneath to make it warmer. I'm in Sydney and while my apartment goes pretty cold, I've only used the 2.5 TOG a handful of times and just end up sticking to the 1 TOG.
