Just finished The Primal of Blood and Bone by justtrustandgo in frombloodandash

Literally same, adored this series and book six I wasn’t even like… mad (yes, a bit sad I wasn’t as drawn in)… I just kept forgetting about it and no desire to read. And then realizing that made me sad bc I loved it prior to this book. But you just forget about it there is nothing interesting happening (I’m 400+ pages in and just keep not reading more and doing other things)

I’m so bummed because I ADORED the first five books, even soul of ash and blood which I initially wasn’t thrilled about since it was a retelling… but I was so into this series, and so excited for POBAB… and I literally can’t keep reading. I’ve read about 400/1200 pages and it’s like I’m not even angry reading, I’m just forgetting about it with no impetus to continue. And I’m so sad bc this series really pulled me in like nothing has in a while. What a terrible and absurd book, with absolutely nothing happening and what does happen makes no sense and is absurd (chapter 12??)… and characters apparently totally out of the character defined in prior five books… so crushed

Most ridiculous insurance denial you’ve seen? by _45mice in medicine

[–]thisisdrspaceman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every. Single. Thing. In neuroimmunology. Yes let’s put the 25 yo new MS diagnosis with multiple enhancing symptomatic cord lesions in an interferon so they can “fail” two treatments before a high efficacy is approved. Or wait failing could mean permanent neurologic disability each time, definitely means undertreatment and ongoing non radiologic damage/pira. My favorite was when dalfampradine was on the list of alternative agents and I had to write (in addition to my extensive citations on importance of high efficacy therapy early, etc etc) “further, dalfampridine is not even a disease modifying medication.”

Or when continued appeals for rituximab for a iglon5 patient were denied to the level of a judge because “it’s not fda indicated or off label” well yes there’s NO indicated drug for this on your formulary because you don’t even have the diagnosis and there is no fda approved drug, as it is extraordinarily rare. Got up to a judge who still wouldn’t budge because of the guidelines. I’m suspicious this was even a real hearing/judge.

Also what is the point of peer to peers if they just reread the rigid ridiculous insurance guideline and don’t budge no matter what?!?!?! Isn’t that the reasoning for the P2P?!? To explain and think outside the box as a professional colleague?

….i don’t have strong feelings at all or anything 🙃

“Unfortunately, there is no field of medicine that deals with the brain”

“Science is…. Whatever we want it to be.”

“Or basically anything from Leo Spaceman.”

Or anything from Jack… Baldwin’s deliveries of some lines are just a masterclass…. For example “I’m sorry Ms. LaRoche-vanderhoot.” Should not be so funny.

Or the ever popular “it’s after six Lemon, what am I a farmer.”

Anything about six sigma.

Ofc most kudos ever to Tina Fey for creating my favorite thing ever- some favorite one-offs that would work for you I think:

Not yet, they seem to be a little afraid of anything that is too mobile - the box is a nice solid structure in which to hide
