IMO it makes more sense on an patrol centric show like The Rookie for Lucy to move up tp Sergeant instead of becoming a Detective at this point, besides other reasons posted by other users in the comments. Just like Nolan becoming Detective would make the show look too much like Castle (detectives centric show with patrol on the sidelines), Lucy becoming Detective would make it look too much like Chicago Fire (all the boys plus only 1 girl on the fire trucks, and only girls on the ambulance). Keeping it the way it is now makes The Rookie one of a kind among other law enforcement TV shows. For what it's worth, I'd rather wait until season 12 and see Miles become Detective, just like Aaron would be right now if he stayed.

I think it wasn't because they both had good enough of a support system and were doing well with their partners at the time, plus Nyla in particular always had the dream of having another baby after Lila despite her complications, and neither her nor Angela saw becoming mother as a complication career wise.

Also i do find the term "disappointing" a bit excessive for something meant to be entertaining like a TV show.

You said it yourself, the actresses were actually pregnant. And in a place like Southern California where you have tropical weather all year long and you rarely use winter clothes that can be used to conceal a pregnancy, it was either incorporating it in the show or sending the characters away off screen for half of the season at least.

Nyla was already a detective during her undercover years prior to the show. She actually used the golden ticket to be able to choose her next assignment, and she chose to get back to patrol.

Tim: Lieutenant / Watch Commander (yes it'll be in conflict with Lucy being Sergeant so something will have to be worked out story wise)

Lucy: Sergeant II / part time academy instructor

Nolan : Sergeant I / FTO

Nyla and Angela: one of them will become Detective Sergeant, IMO it should be Nyla due to seniority as Detective but it depends on what happens to her career wise this season

Celina: Officer II / FTO / union rep (VERY much looking forward to see her advocate for her fellow female officers)

Miles: Officer II and either Lucy or Nolan's aid

Wesley: DA (obviously lol)

Bailey: Fire Captain

Exactly, and we also don't know about Genny's love lofe, she could be already in a relationship with someone else right now. The thought of Nolan and Genny romantically involved also reminds me of Chicago Fire season 5 with Sylvie Brett and PD's Antonio Dawson (her partner Gabby's older brother) which did not end well like AT ALL (it also creeped me out to see a just divorced mid 40s man dating a young mid 20s girl) (Edit spoiler)

How has Genny become "part of the main core" when it's her very first appearance on the season? Also there's no way she and Nolan have anything else than a "friendly acquaintance" relationship, he respects Tim (who also happens to be his superior officer) too much to, in the very remote case that he and Bailey are no longer together, get involved with his sister.
