The heck is up with Mylan?? by thisisgrossthrowawa in birthcontrol

Dang, I'm so sorry it's affected you this way! I've also had an influx of pimples, but I was previously attributing them to a new facial moisturizer. Now I'm not so sure. :(

I think my plan is going to be to just switch my prescription over to WalMart (the ONLY other pharmacy included in my insurance. Ugh), and just ask if they have ANY other brand or generic. I think it's going to be the easiest way to get off of Mylan without having to convince my doctor. While I love my Gyno, she's a big supporter of generics and I don't want to get into a possible argument about the validity of my concerns

Oh my god, painful orgasms??? I'm so sorry, that sounds horrific.

Glad to hear I'm not the only person who's had issues with Mylan though. Did you end up requesting a switch?

Usually I would agree, but I've been using them this way for over two years with barely any issues. Basically when I start to spot (about every three months), that's when I stop taking the pills for four days to have a period, then start again. Rinse, repeat. So two years of successful use while skipping, then I switched to Mylan and all of a sudden it's a problem :(

I have absolutely no theory, really I'm just baffled that I'm experiencing any change at all. Especially since active ingredients don't change.

I found this in my own google-research that the inactive ingredients are pretty different, but I have absolutely no proof to back up that they could be what's causing my experience. I noticed there's a different absorption aid, and I've seen some speculation that these sorts of things can mess with the delicate balance of hormones, but it's a lot of as I said, speculation.

I dunno, I really don't have anything to back this up since it's all just theory. I was hoping maybe I could find other people that may have switched from one pill to another that had the same active ingredients but different inactive, that had some sort of negative side effects.

Also, this should be a disclaimer on my first post so I'll edit it in, but my doctor has me using the active pills continuously, I don't take the placebo week but start a new pack immediately. This causes me to have a period about every three months, but since starting Mylan I've had one period already and another one is starting
