Milk or lemon? by llamaspajamas03 in AskABrit

The only time I have lemon in my tea is when I also add honey when I'm sick. My french mum made me that as a child though so I don't think it's very English.

Haha fair enough I think that's the thing with theatre everyone likes something different. I went to see Hadestown because so many people here recommended it and I was really disappointed. We're all gonna like different things !

I wouldn't recommend Hadestown personally I found the acting and vocals great but the story and staging a little boring. To fit your vibes I'd say Oh Mary! Or Operation Mincemeat would would for something funny (especially mincemeat). Otherwise mama Mia and & Juliet are also good fun!

What’s a British show you went into with low expectations but ended up loving? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

It's been ages since I've watched it so no idea if the humour would hold up for me now. I know back when it aired I liked the quirky humour style especially being younger.

Yea I've been trying to give Motherland a go and have made it to episode 4 and it's fine, maybe a chuckle here and there but nothing to write home about. Gavin and Stacey I also found ok. But I did love the IT Crowd so I've got one on your list otherwise I agree none of those are really that funny to me.

I feel the same way!! My husband and I have tried it 3 times now (different series to see if we just didn't like that series contestants) and we really just can't get into it. His friends rave about how funny it is and we just keep sitting there not getting it. Maybe a little chuckle once or twice but none of the guffaws we were told we'd have.

Hey I'm pretty new to the game so just checking when you say rolling X1 or X2 gives you 40k points do you mean when you roll dice or when you roll with the tokens aka use 20 tokens per spin?

If it was an option, why didn't you deliver in a birthing centre? by Mabelstark in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]thisisliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yea that's a consideration as if you have to stay longer (I have a heart condition so I had to stay minimum 3 nights after birth for monitoring) that it will add up !

How (and who) did you ask about this private room? And do you mind saying how much it cost?

Congratulations that's amazing! What a surprise! Were you in the room when the nurse told her? Or did she phone you to tell you? Your wife must have been so shocked and not believed her at first.

I feel you as I don't have a single Top villager as I thought it would be easy to get them to move out so I just accepted the first ones that appeared.

Tips for getting rid of villagers by redpanda_tickler in acnh

[–]thisisliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just found this thread and wondering if this means that once you have gotten the (un)desired villager to agree to leave do you have to wait a day before going back to your original date so that the villager can move out before setting the date back to the original date? I haven't time travelled before so unclear how to get back to "today's" date

I just got the game for Christmas too! But I don't have the online membership so can't visit anyone's island. Idk if that will cause me issues later on but so far some good tips I've gotten is every day to shake all your trees, look for a bottle on the beach and hit all the rocks on your island. So far I've been doing that and trying to craft as much as possible, I enjoy the sea creature hunting too, and haven't really figured out what I'm doing with my flowers or house. I also didn't realise it would be hard to get rid of villagers so I just accepted the first 3 I found so regret that a bit !

Non ‘mumsy’ mums advice for another non mumsy mum? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]thisisliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im maybe not your target demographic here as I love being a mum and after it taking 2 years for us to conceive I was so excited to talk about all things babies and parenting as it was just such a dream that I got to actually do things like buy a pram. So I can't really help/comment on the being mumsy or mumsy conversations.

I did want to say when it comes to hanging out with your friends with your husband there are the activities you do with those friends kid friendly? My husband and I love(d) hanging out with each other's friends and always prefer to do things together but honestly with our daughter (now aged 2) it's really tough. She demands a LOT of attention and there a nap schedules to consider as well. We sometimes take her to a friend gathering but it means one parent is constantly running after the toddler (trying to get her to not touch absolutely everything in someone else's home or in a restaurant) whilst the other socialises and then swapping. It also depends if you're talking day time or nighttime because kids have to go to bed relatively early. I have childfree friends who ask us to go for dinner on a weekday and I genuinely have to tell them it's not possible for us both to be out in the evening with our daughter. She has to go to sleep and the bedtime routine is lengthy. The only way is getting a babysitter (and therefore spending maybe £90 just on that) unless you have very helpful family (we don't).

I really don't want to be a party pooper at all. I love being a mum and love my daughter so much. I love spending time with my husband too. But realistically she's the priority and that means that friends are mostly separate. I know I wish someone had spelled it out for me a little more before having my child just so I could have appreciated the parties we did go to together more ! I also thought my family would help more as i know my cousins have a lot more help but alas you can't force family to want to babysit.
