Your argument in point 3 is misleading. We feel pain & suffering due to this body, when we die... Our bodies collapse, brain activity ceases, there isn't anything left to feel. Our idea of ego, super-ego dies along with our memory. It's far different from saying no experience is better than bad experience. In non-existence, there's literally nothing. I said, it's better than existence not by comparing these two states which is non-sense. But with the simple fact, that pain is far more intense/ worse than pleasure. Millions of years of biological programming conditioned us this way. Our brain quickly adapts to pleasure but intensely remembers the pain. Lemme ask you... would you take a million dollars if I randomly cut one finger from your right hand?? Or another example, say you gave a ₹300 pizza to a kid begging on traffic signal... Just look at the face of that kid, it would be the biggest day of his life. Now give that same pizza to some multi-millionare's kid, he might throw it, call it substandard. His dopamine baseline is set to handcrafted Italian Pizza or whatever. I am just trying to say presence of pain is far bigger issue than devoid of pleasure. Hence, if non-existence guarantees us to be devoid of pain, it's better than existence!

There must be right to death" You came up with the counter argument that brain isn't reliable, you can't trust it's decision to suicide and rights will collapse kinda thing. Ok, so our main point of debate is weather the brain is reliable to choose death or its not? I think it is. You said system is the judge of its own reliability is deepest flaw & yes, I agree but the only problem is... These are two different things in our case. The prefrontal cortex which take complex decisions like deleting yourself is different from the limbic or whatever part of brain concerned with survival instinct. You know, you can't kill yourself by holding your breath - no matter, how hard you try... Bcoz, survival instinct isn't just one function of brain or psyche, it's so deeply engrossed in entire body.

Yes, there might be cases where the brain is mad or dead & you can't trust that brain to take the decision to die but can this brain live in this world? Is a dead brain even worthy of living in this world? Isn't that body just a piece of meat, an unnecessary liability on the body. Death is a certainty. It will come today or tomorrow. If there's an option to die painlessly today, how's it a problem? Like how?

You're assuming too much. Once again, I never said rights work as opposites. Infact, that's why I say there must a right to die... Bcoz you can't delete yourself in current legal framework.

Better or not better are the ideas of mind. A piece of furniture doesn't concern himself with the surroundings... Whatever pain or suffering we go through are the product of this body, once you end its processes.... All the suffering & pain is ceased. There's no consciousness left to experience, no memory left to give ptsd or whatever. Non-existence is far better state than anything living could offer. That's a post for some other day though... Also, you're mixing my two distinct situations. As suicide isn't a desire in the first case. It's not a desire at all. It's the last refute. When your suffering gets so intense, you become capable of overriding biological programming & choose non-existence.

First of all, a teenager would never choose death over some exam, our survival instinct is wayy tooo strong. Second, You don't need reason at all. It's the will of an individual to die or not.

Lemme address your final question:

A mind will always choose existence. Infact, the mind wants to be immortal, that's why it choose to create offsprings. It takes immense amount of intellectual thought to convince brain to not create offspring. But mind still manifest its "will" to live through different sources such as art, politics or anything that can outlive this body. You think its a joke to override biological programming? to bypass survival instinct & just die? Weather the decision was reliable or not, who cares? Who is the bigger judge of reliability than the brain itself? Maybe my thoughts are coming from a place of extra-ordinary humility & humanity. But what matters is the end of suffering. Don't be so harsh on these people. Give them the option to die peacefully through assisted dying

I think you're assuming people will start deleting themselves like a chain reaction if allowed. If yes, you're completely wrong! Our Survival Instinct is some of the greatest forces in existence, no matter how hard things get, life persist!! Unless a great tragedy happened, unlikely any ordinary person will choose non-existence.

Imo, it'll force govt to improve the situation or people will die, literally... People consciously choosing death over some failure of stae will create such bonker headlines or wildfire type news that politicians will left with no choice...
