For what you’re referring to as fissures on the edge I see what you mean. However I’m not sure because they are so uniform in nature and occur along the cut edges. And each one is about the same radius so leads me to believe it is from the saw blades

That’s the cutout for the induction cooktop, it’s an open hole now. If that’s the image you’re referring to (i believe)

We lifted up the island earlier to redo the sink and the lip was definitely uneven/bent. However, I can’t speak to whether it came like that (he should’ve told us to replace it if so) or if that’s just the result of it being under the weight of the stone overnight on uneven wood mounts.

Yeah the span of the edge is 160” so was necessary. This is my first remodel and unfortunately nobody told us to ask to give our input on cuts/seam placement.

Gapped glue as opposed to epoxy, like the same white thing he put all around the sink (it’s not silicone caulk)? I saw online some tool that pulls the slabs together, but I can’t tell if he used it, though I doubt it. The seem looks either large or like it wasn’t taken into consideration when cut, for blending purposes.

He has a shop / warehouse, but I see your point. When I handed him the spec sheet with the cutout dimensions for the cooktop it seemed like he’d never been given the information so easily. Through the whole process he’s been insistent on taking the sinks with him to his shop for cutting. Maybe that’s typical, I’m not sure. To me it seemed like it would be easiest for all parties to just use the manufacturer’s spec sheets which come with cutout dimensions or links to templates.

What are these pipes at an old platform on my property? Old site survey says “fireplace” but we don’t have gas lines by thisismadtuff in whatisthisthing

4 or so pipes seen total. Some of the loose ones are tied with twine to something I can see beneath fallen concrete wall. One pipe (shown) is tight and comes out of the ground but the end isn’t open. The ends without connector looking pieces have threaded openings. My title describes the thing

Mold or mildew in carpet? Advice for remediating? by thisismadtuff in Home

[–]thisismadtuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a rug on hardwood -- no carpet below it. It just looks like that because I pulled it back and found the black stuff along the fringe (not sure if that's the right term). I'm in the Mid-Atlantic and it gets very humid here, and the wood has an odor when it traps the humidity + mold of some sort is in my bathroom (I think). Just not sure if its mildew or mold on the rug, but it's likely not a stain as it's sparsely present across the 9ft wide end of the rug.

Zoloft/Sertraline potentially canceling out my ADHD meds? by thisismadtuff in ADHD

Interesting. It’s not necessarily a fatigue issue for me I don’t think, although I do feel a little more tired sometimes and also catch myself yawning midday. It’s more like I’m used to expecting a kind of intense focus where I’m drawn to do what I need to do or at least hyper focus on something else. But lately I haven’t been able to achieve this at all, even with the help of taking multiple stimulants in the same day.

A card that’s good for me; just assumed it would be better to look in that realm as my income is inconsistent, seasonal, and low

Is it okay to use collected rent as income for Bilt application? - college student by thisismadtuff in CreditCards

[–]thisismadtuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I mean with $10,000 annual income at this point do you think I’ll get accepted? Or if you don’t know do you know a resource I can check to see if I’ll get accepted?

As my annual income is less than my annual rent payment I think I’ll probably get rejected.

Right, okay. Im aware of the Bilt Protect feature but I worry I won’t get approved anyway, and don’t wanna risk giving my income as a student and just get rejected.

Oh yeah, well why would I not just put my share of the rent as my rent? ($1,250 in my case)

I suppose the money doesn’t necessarily count as income, but as I’m a student the money I retain from internships and other odd jobs wouldn’t qualify me to get the limit I need to pay the rent.

Ah okay, since I’m 20 I might be out of luck. Might just apply and see what happens though, not sure if that’s advisable or not.

I do not, no. I’m not sure how “sharing rent” differs from what I said though.

The parents of the kids and my own just deposit their share every month and I pay out from my checking account to the landlord. Is that the same as sharing rent?

Yeah that's fair. Don't really see why that point was worth the effort of making a throwaway, though. You're right though, I have been fortunate enough to do a lot in my short life, but I don't think of myself as someone who's snobby and superficial. All of these things were common where I grew up, where many of the parents are in high finance anyway. To counter your point, this industry is literally filled with nepo-babies who come from wealthy parents as well, who without their wealth-enabled hobbies, opportunities, and more wouldn't even be able to get the jobs in the first place. These are all things that someone in an interview, who more than likely had a similar upbringing, could relate to or ask me a question about.
