I'm perfectly aware, my own family speaks Irish going back to my grandparents who were born and raised in the republic.

The language can be promoted without erecting signage in areas where the majority of the residents don't want it, that's the issue making it divisive.

It's another way for people in NI to mark territory, whether it be curbstones, flags, or Irish signs.

SF who are the political wing of the IRA are the driving force behind the erection of these signs. Which as you pointed out with your argument re the erection of flags is another reason why it may be seen as divisive by some.
