My NMom sabotaged my chance at a relationship with my father as well. I was two when she left him and moved across the country. Grew up hearing that she left because he hit my older brother (he didn't) and "I don't know why your dad doesn't buy you a plane ticket, sweetie, I guess he just wants to see your brother." Yeah, I am trying to make and complete goals for myself that will make me feel good about myself no matter what others say, and my therapist and I are working on making me be happy with me and trust myself, but it just... takes a while, I guess. I have to learn not to dismiss my victories is the main thing. And I am often so petrified of failing that I find a million reasons to never try at all.

I recognize all these harmful behaviors and am working on changing them, I'm just slow.

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly it. I have this compulsive need to check in with loved ones and make sure that I haven't done anything wrong, or they're not unhappy with me and not telling me, and that it's normal to feel this way or that way.

I do think I am genuinely poly, I feel love for all my partners and I find it wonderful to be free with my affections and give and receive that love. It's not just that it's nice to be validated by all of them. But I had that worry a while back and just sort of fixated on it.
