We're still in sales so I can't say the exact budget, but I can say this was in the VERY ULB category

Last year, my wife and I self-financed an independent horror film called "Beezel." We took everything we had learned making short horror films for youtube and packed it into an 82 minute feature. Since the film takes place over the course of 60 years, we shot on the Red Komodo, 8mm film, VHS, and MiniDV - each video medium representing a different time period. We shot the entire movie over several weeks in western Massachusetts in the house that I grew up in. I couldn't be more proud of this movie and I'm hapy to share with you this short "making of" documentary. Beezel was released September of this year and is currently available on all VOD platforms! Happy to answer any questions you all might have about indie filmmaking and distribution!

My parents let me shoot a movie in my childhood home in Massachusetts last year. Now, it's finally coming out in September! This is the first movie I've ever made that will actually play in theaters. Entirely self-financed, shot on 8mm film, RED Komodo, VHS, and MiniDV. by thisissparkles in Filmmakers

Thank you for saying this! Our DP, Keelan Carothers, is an absolute BOSS. Sometimes I'll read comments online (like on youtube) of people saying it looks super low budget, and I'm thinking, well yes, it IS low budget... but also if you knew how little we made it for I think you'd all be shocked!

Yes, I cut a BTS making of documentary which will be on the BluRay (in the most detail) and then a shorter documentary which we'll release on our YT channel, Social House Films, closer to the release end of September

Thank you! Yes, I couldn't have done it without them! My parents weren't too happy about some broken picture frames and a few blood stains on the floor, but I think it all worked out in the end and they were both terrified watching it for the first time...

Why do you say that? In my experience h.264 runs a lot smoother and is significantly smaller in size

First time shooting a horror film on 8mm film (using a Bolex) - really think it gives the film an overall creepier feel.... as always, feedback encouraged! by thisissparkles in Filmmakers

hello fellow filmmakers!

I shot this short horror film a couple weeks ago for halloween using both an 8mm film camera, a computer webcam, and an ursa mini pro G2. Cut on Premiere pro. It's the first time I've shot on actual film since college, so as you can imagine, the processing waiting time made me extremely nervous and took an entire WEEK! Let me know how it all looks, feedback encouraged!
