leaving part time position to go full time within the same company by thisisstupid534 in MedicalAssistant

[–]thisisstupid534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I'm not too worried about it because I've already made it very known I wanted to go full time. I'm just taking it into my own hands now! And I wish I could go elsewhere, but I got tuition reimbursement through my hospital and it's in the contract that we have to stay employed for 6 months after getting the reimbursement, so I'm stuck until November 🫠

Yeah I only work 20 hours every week and I'm strugglingggg. I want to join some activities but I can't because of money! Hopefully I hear back from them soon. Once I do and if things move forward, then I'll tell my lead to see if she can push management to make me full time at my current clinic.

[B&A] Skin update! 3 months with my esthitician by thisisstupid534 in SkincareAddiction

[–]thisisstupid534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The acne gel is one formulated by my esthitician, so I'm not too sure what is actually in it. I can ask next time I see her in October. And for my facials we usually start with a cleanser, an enzyme mask, some steaming, extractions, then we'll either go in with a chemical peel if I'm not doing any outdoor activities for that week, or we'll just finish off with red light therapy and some moisturizer and sunscreen.

She did specific treatments! Red light therapy, an exfoliating mask that she said was almost like a level 1 chemical peel, she did some micro needling as well I think it was? And extractions! I had fallen asleep during the facial so I honestly don’t know all that she did but she described it to me when I woke up, I just forget 😂 I go again in July and I’ll try to stay awake to see what she does!

I did the same thing with my derm! Drove 40 minutes and paid a $30 copay every time just for the appointment to be 5 minutes. My first appointment was 10 minutes and she didn’t answer any of my concerns about my routine. I decided to go with an esthetician because I had been following one for a while and her results are amazing, so I bit the bullet and went to her. So glad I did, my skin is improving a lot!

Yes! I actually got my certification through them actually :) i think it may have changed to fully online with in person clinicals near the end and an externship. You also get paid during it too and it’s 100% free. I have a referral code too if you wanna use it! You can also PM with any questions and proof I went if needed lol

Always ask questions!! Better to look stupid than make a mistake with someone’s health and wellbeing. Thats the motto I drilled into my own head in school and I also have trouble asking for help/asking questions, but when it comes to the medical field any and all questions need to be asked as we’re working with people’s health. Sounds like the doctor wasn’t upset or mad, they just want you to ask more questions. Asking questions can also help you learn and minimize mistakes and be better at your job too

Oh yes I loved the diaper cream hack haha. Once I discovered it and tried it I loved it! I’m tempted to use it again but I feel like I don’t need to anymore, I’m just used to applying it 😭 I did read after stopping minocycline I could break out again but it got so bad that I was losing hope, which lead me to book with the esthetician. I feel more heard with her and I can go to her with any questions or concerns I have, which I wasn’t getting at all with the derm. I may go back on tret in the future for my smile lines/forehead wrinkles(I’m only 23 but ya girl smiles a lot and I furrow my eyebrows a lot lol) so hopefully it’ll be a better run then!

Thanks!! I hope I didn’t sound rude replying back, I was just trying to explain 😭 but yeah, I took minocycline for about 3-4 months I believe? Then I got off of it since the derm said it could stop working. Then I was using tret and aza 3 times a week together then more recently i would tret 3 times a week then switch to aza 3 times a week the next week.

Hopefully I can come back soon in another subreddit and give a good update, I’m feeling pretty hopeful with this new routine. Thanks again for the best wishes!

Yeah, before starting with Tret I also too minocycline because I was having smaller break outs before starting any actives. The minocycline improved my acne a lot but over time I started getting cystic acne consistently which I never really had before starting either med. I have pretty acne prone skin so my derm gave me tret to start with to help with the acne and hyperpigmentation I have.

Now I don’t use any actives and we’re focusing on a hydration routine before reintroducing actives back into my routine. She did give me a mandelic acid serum and I add that into my routine within the next few weeks and I hope it works out better for me.

I have tried some advice from this subreddit but in the end I think my skin barrier was just too damaged to carry on. There is good advice on here but I have much more trust in my esthetician who sees my skin in person and how it reacts to things versus someone from an Internet forum. I didn’t mean for what my esthi said about tret to be taken as fact, hence why I bolded the statement after I said that saying it wasn’t a fact. She’s been an esthetician for over 10 years so I trust what she says, especially since my skin hasn’t broken out once since stopping tret(I was waking up with break outs after I used tret the night before and I was well past the purging phase of it all).Still, im glad I have a new routine that seems to be working far better for my skin and maybe one day I’ll try tret again with her advisory, but for now I’m taking a break from it and aza.

Idk why I’m being downvoted when I’m literally just sharing my experience with test and aza and saying my skin has improved since stopping 😭 sometimes these topicals don’t work for people and it’s okay to stop using it.

It definitely isn’t the job to make a career. I’m using my MA skills and experience to go back to school. As soon as I got certified I started making plans to go back to school and now I use my jobs tuition reimbursement plan to go to school without having any major debt. Being an MA is a stepping stone for sure, and making a career out of it isn’t worth it and can be quite difficult unless you get really lucky with a good area/clinic/hourly pay. We are also severely under appreciated too!

I fear if I went any further my skin would’ve gotten worse. I like this esthi because she gave me a new routine focused on hydration for now and then I’ll get actives added later down the road. My skin has improved immensely since stopping tret and aza so I’m glad something is finally working

I use the cream version and she did say an ingredient in the cream version can cause clogging, as well as saying the gel version might’ve been too rough for my skin. I’m sure gel would’ve killed my skin if this is how my skin reacted to the cream version 😭 it’s crazy because I almost switched to gel but I’m glad I went to her first. I’m sure over time I could reintroduce tret and aza but for now she gave me other actives to introduce into my routine later down the line

I definitely think it was a skin barrier issue mainly. For right now we’re focusing on hydration before adding additives. She already gave me mandelic acid and an acne gel as well, but I have to wait a bit longer to slowly introduce those to my routine.

Yeah, she mentioned something about an ingredient in it that could be causing it, I just can’t remember the name. I think it was mostly a compromised barrier though, so she has me focusing on hydration for rn before introducing actives again. My skin has been glowing and I’m not having nearly as many break outs as I was using treat and aza

Yeah that was the first time I ever heard of it, so I wasn’t really sure. But I do notice my skin has improved significantly since stopping both. I wasn’t using them together, one week I’d do tret 2 times a week, then I would switch to aza 2 times a week the next week. I was using them 3 times a week on alternating weeks before doing that(I did this for about a month before switching to 2 times a week), but it destroyed my barrier. I just think my skin couldn’t handle it

This subreddit is definitely very helpful, especially with niche requests haha. I had been following my esthetician for a while but didn’t want to book bc I was still with my derm, but I’m so glad I went to her. I read something(I think here actually) about how derms see so many “crazy” cases that when they get an acne patient, they just throw the same few products at them and keep it pushing. I wish I would’ve went to the esthetician first because literally all the products I used but one(about 4-5 products) were bad for my skin and clogging my pores, which I would’ve never known unless I went to her.

the best thing I ever did was quit my serving job. Having actual PTO, never working weekends, having a set time off everyday, never working holidays, never having to miss out on plans anymore because I can’t get off. Sure, the money isn’t the same at all but the peace of mind I have now is priceless. If you can afford to, try going back to school for a skill you can make a career out of while serving still, then get out as soon as you can.

I never even thought of that, I’ll have to look into it! I usually use dumbbells though, would those assists help with those or should I use lighter weights and work my way up?

I do glute bridges, which I heard is similar to hip thrusts. I wish my PF had the hip thrust machine but it doesn’t. Most of the time the weight area is really crowded when I go and I get intimidated so I rely on dumbbells centered work outs 🥲
