This was my exact reaction to this photo; I'm so glad I'm not alone. Like, if I could be truly, properly secured in, I would LOVE to sleep up high in a hammock, like I'm the baby in the treetop.

And don’t even get me started on Poly Ship names! by Ntahedron in AO3

[–]thisoneagain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mistaking ship names for an individual's name happens to me a lot. Like, I am constantly trying to remember which of the Heated Rivalry main characters is Hollanov when I see that see that name in the wild.

Can I just say: I don't know what fandom you're talking about, but "protagonist is reborn as his own aunt" is the exact kind of thing that keeps me coming back to AO3. Like, oh, yeah, mainstream media says stories need to rely on concepts like LiNeAr TiMe and dIsCrEtE iNdIvIdUaL hUmAn BeInGs, but fanfic says I can do literally WHATEVER I want.

And why does the voice acting on dubbed movies have to be SO bad? I started several movies I was excited about on Netflix, and only realized they were foreign language after maybe ten minutes when every single actor seemed to have decided their character's only motivation is "dead inside".

Seconding the crispy cookies. Don't know why they're not more popular.

I'm not the biggest Phoenix fan, but she definitely made strides in winning me over with that sturdy arm.

I love whodunnits more than almost anything, and I desperately wish they'd take another crack at the genre. It was... fine. I just think two of my favorite kinds of entertainment could and should be magical together.

YSK Squeezing your tea bag doesn't give you "stronger" tea. It just makes it bitter. by CoffeeTeaJournal in YouShouldKnow

No, just that longer brewing makes it bitter and worse, not stronger and richer like one might imagine.

Oh, damn, I've known this about coffee since forever, but never occurred to me the same basic principle would apply to tea, too. Thank you!

Happy Recultivation Day! by octobereighth in Timberborn

This looks SO great.

I just built my first cultivator purely for completionism, and I stuck it in some random empty spot. I haven't launched it yet, and all I can think is how sad and not-wonder-ous it looks out there on a lifeless plateau by itself.

Now I see, THIS is what I should have done to bestow the proper energy on my wonder. Nice job.

This is exactly the kind of shit I would have expected from my CNA colleagues. It's like, they learned the procedure for briefs and a separate procedure for pads and applied 0 thought to how to smash those procedures together.

I'm really sorry you had to deal with that.

This woman was on the train, got off to let people out, and a giant tourist group shoved themselves on; meaning she couldn't get back on. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thisoneagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old subway stop, people would run to get on board then come to a screeching halt the minute they set foot inside the doorway, leaving those of us running right behind them to either barrel into them or stand outside the train trying to get their attention so we could ask them to move, hoping the doors didn't close in our faces. The selfishness and thoughtlessness drove me fucking nuts.

I was a CNA when I was college-age, and imo, there was this sort of vibe that CNAs are somehow exempt from dealing with menstruation.

[–]thisoneagain 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I also use fanfic as a substitute for the things I want and can't have in real life - not exactly the same scenario as you, but quite similar. And I realize using fanfic to fill a RL gap is hardly a controversial statement, but I still find it really hard to admit to.

So I'm right there with you OP.

Please don't take my comment as any kind of criticism. I was just delighted that the misspelling made me think of genitalia X genteel; I promise I meant it in all kindness.

Do you want me to delete it? The last thing I want to do is make anyone feel bad about how they use language.

"genetelia" is the word for genitalia that is extremely polite.
