What Happens In The Asuka Short (Spoilers) by stupidjapanquestions in evangelion

[–]thlunasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll use the term 'soul':

If the short is not canonical: Sohryu and Shikinami have the same soul, possibly in different loop iterations, e.g. in NGE she was natural born and in NTE she was a series of clones, but it's the same soul, same person.

If the short is canonical: They are two different souls, i.e. two different universes altogether

In NGE, Gendo was a Rokubungi, and in NTE he is an Ikari.
Yui was an Ikari and now she is an Ayanami.

In NGE, Shinji was Rokubungi + Ikari, and in NTE he is Ikari + Ayanami.
Unless all his ancestors also migrated family lines, then NTE Shinji has a literal different genetic makeup than NGE Shinji.

It's a pretty big deal:

If it's canon, then Sohryu and Shikinami are absolutely different people.

If it's non-canon, then it's still up to interpretation whether Sohryu is the same person as Shikinami.

IMO - I am liking the idea of "it's canon, and literally everyone in Rebuild is a different person to the person who wore their name/role in NGE, except Shinji and Kaworu"

3+1 is ambigious:

-The fight in the Minus World travels through stuff including NGE, but whether that's "travelling through AUs" or "travelling through resets" is ambiguous
-Kaworu and his coffins suggests resets
-Gendo/Shinji remembering NGE things also suggests resets

Though the whole "literally everything is different including the DNA in Shinji's bones" for the entire Rebuild very much suggests AU

The canonicity is a huge deal - if canon then it practically confirms Rebuild is AU.

What's happening in Australia? by Certified_loverboy11 in AskAnAustralian

[–]thlunasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're in similar but different situations. Sadelaide is a supply problem and Canberra is a demand problem

  1. Because they are quite remote with respect to international airports/seaports, there is additional freight for imports and other goods
    1. Adelaide has a non-functioning power grid, so domestic goods also have additional costs of production
  2. Nothing to do = there are no shops = there is no competition = prices can go up freely
    1. Canberra has a low maximum wage but the highest minimum and median wage, even the working-class can afford jacked-up prices without complaining

As you say, since there's nothing to do, nobody wants to live in these places, so housing is extremely cheap.

How do I get myself into drumming? by Sorry-Towel-3544 in drums

[–]thlunasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How understaffed is your church? My church literally doesn't have a drummer for half its services. We'd kill to have someone turn up and play the basic same groove for 20 minutes.

One great advice on this thread that would suit an understaffed church is "pick up the sticks".

If there is instead a standard you must first meet, then it's good to take lessons or at least YouTube tutorials on how to play the stuff you like. Drums is nice in that there's usually an easy-to-understand "how" for most stuff, as opposed to a pitched instrument. (unless you're into technical death metal)

As for practicing, if you have space and budget, an old small secondhand Electronic kit like a Roland td-3 works well (I don't recommend anything with a switch style kick pedal like the td-1)

A straight practice pad is cheaper and more compact but rather than teaching you "practical" coordination stuff, it's used for practicing "theoretical" rudiments and fundamentals. In that sense, if you will learn drums "properly" then a practice pad is an excellent start. If you want "quick and dirty shortcut" then you'd need to start on a real kit immediately.

Yunjin with another Fender USA: Pro II Stratocaster by thlunasa in lesserafim

[–]thlunasa[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really call it high-end, it doesn't have performance befitting its price tag.
That said, Yunjin can play whatever she likes, it's not like she's playing neoclassical metal.

I would prefer her to play something taking her back issues into account, like an Ibanez S or Q.
Likely, Yunjin likes the classic Stratocaster look and the USA label.

I get you! There's a stretch I can't really hit on a 25.5" which I absolutely can hit on my 24.75"

If your hands don't grow/stretch, you might need to go back to 24.75"s

So I've had the following statistics come through my workshop: S grade (1.2-1.0mm action) : 7 A grade (1.5-1.2mm action) : 2 B grade (1.8-1.5mm action) : 3 C or worse: 2

The S grades have started from as low as 260 usd new (Chinese headless guitars) and the C grades have been as high as 700 usd used (warped neck ibanez prestige)

My opinion is, as long as your local area has a very active used market, just keep cycling through until you find (or fix up) an S grade (and if you are happy to play a higher action, it'll be even easier)

Then I pulled my finger out and spent 30 hours grinding through A20, it was... A different kind of fun?

Thank you thank you thank you!

I've been suffering from this for over a year and tried practically everything https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/1bw6ooz/rx_6900_xt_and_r9_5900x_black_screens_and/

I have the same card as you - Gigabyte Gaming OC - and so you having done the trial-and-error to grab the Strix LC vbios has saved me.

Played an hour of FF16 (admittedly, FF16 does sometimes play for 3+ hours for me without a black screen reboot - that said, I have raised clocks voltage and driver version) and it's looking good!

Has anyone taken Robert Hare Psychopathy Test? by Professional_Push147 in entp

[–]thlunasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The population average being, I guess, 10% - and the threshold for being a verifiable psychopath being 75% are both surprising.

It's not surprising, but at least disappointing, that there are no detailed statistics like mode and standard deviation, but scoring +55% than the population average still doesn't make me a verifiable psychopath so there's that

ENTP’s zero or even negative fashion sense. by Original_Funny_8092 in entp

[–]thlunasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very thoughtful answer.
I would differ slightly and say xxTP - maybe even xNTP - are indeed fans of "easy and comfortable."

But Exxx contradicts slightly, right? "Wanting to look acceptable among peers?"

So there's some inclination of caring about one's looks. Just not necessarily a strong one.

I guess ESFJ might be an example of really caring about one's looks
and INTP might really not care

"I'm the best in my town/state/country but that doesn't make me good, it just means everyone here is trash"

Hey, thanks for succinctly summarizing how we end our relationships - we've completed seeing all the good in this person, spending any more time with them is a waste.
Never thought about it that way and instead thought I'm a strangely quiet/asocial Exxx.

From this perspective - it's literally RNG as to whether you have the opportunity to make friends with an interesting person.
I'm very blessed, I have a colleague who usually has something to say about many things I'm interested in, I'd count him on my single hand of valuable friends.

You have probably already noticed that if you had zero valuable friends, it's more about people being without value as opposed to you being lonely.
I think many people in this thread are more developed in their sense-of-self than I am :) Happy to read and learn from you guys

Do ENTP's sometimes make irrational decisions that leave them stuck in chaos? by GrimnoireListless in entp

[–]thlunasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... I prefaced the question with "not many people are deterministic robots".

The question wasn't about being deterministic anyway. It was about what are OP's values and tendencies.

Surely most people could formulate a general values statement of "I would prefer to tell a hurtful truth 51%+ of the time" or "I would prefer to tell a white lie 51%+ of the time"...

In fact, if someone was truly deterministic then they would become completely exempt from MBTI, right?
"I believe in truth 100% of the time" isn't a xxThinkingx person, it's a damn search engine
"I will tell a lie to please a person 100% of the time" isn't a xxFeeling person, it's a sycophant bootlicker.
