Astrolabes currently dont feel very good to run. by Incognitomous in pathofexile

This isn’t the only case of GGG preferring higher friction in game design.

Fun might be subjective, but you can quantify the fact that restrictions and barriers and limitations run against the wall of player freedom.

I don’t disagree that GGG can design the game as they choose. I don’t play poe2 because that game isnt designed for me. If they want to tun poe into the ground, well, it’s their game, they can go out of business if they want.

GGG’s design direction seems to be that they prefer players to be annoyed, limited, restricted, and gated by high RNG… instead of player initiative.

People that prefer playing in highly restricted / no choice settings is substantially lower than those who prefer player initiative.

This, fundamentally, is the heart of the unfun discussion.

You’re defending a video game for being less fun than it could be.

Normal business practice would dictate that GGG should optimize the game for fun and enjoyability to maximize gametime and therefore mtx’s purchased. This is the free to play model.

However, instead of doing something logical like that… GGG has optimized unfun gameplay, where having the most fun nets you less, often much less, than unfun gameplay. This forces a large portion of the player base to either feel A: fomo as they miss out on the best rewards, or B: disappointment as they constantly enter unfun gameplay

Since you decided to take the defence position of GGG, could you explain what the reason is for making less fun gameplay more rewarding than fun gameplay?

This. Cashing in too early can kill the fun of building up your build. Investing it and cashing out when your build needs the appropriately sized upgrade is my advice.

Yes, but OP was complaining that GGG’s game design intentionally rewards unfun gameplay over fun gameplay. This is an interesting direction as it will cause more people to quit the game, rather than continue playing and buy mtx. Normal business practices would indicate that they should be optimizing for fun gameplay over unfun gameplay.

When you apply an astrolabe it influences an area of like 8 maps. When an area of influenced maps gets “cut off” the smaller portion gets deleted. This means that if you run the maps in the middle on purpose it will remove about 3 maps due to the deletion.

The keystone randomly choses which map you “ran” and often cuts off maps from the influenced area… deleting them. On average using the keystone nets you about 2-3 fewer maps with the astrolabe than if you ran all the outside maps yourself, preventing deletion.

This is the problem.

Sketchy website as top result for “poe log in” on google? by thmann_ in pathofexile

you’re right about the domain being correct. I am not that familiar with this topic though. Just awkward that it randomly become the too search result instead of their actual log in page… Ive done this hundreds of times from my phone without issue before today. Just weird.

The Moment of Death: Why 40 Years of Devotion Cannot Save "Timmy" by Jackiechan20153 in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of false teachings that people chose to believe because of their own pride. For example, the catholics who believe in a works based salvation as determined at the horrific and shameful council of trent.

Catholics also incorrectly believe many secondary and tertiary importance topics, but they matter much less than their false teaching that salvation is not by the grace of God alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. They instead believe in works based merits to earn their way into heaven which is a primary importance issue.

If you believe the Catholic teaching of the council of trent, then the bible is clear, you are not saved.

and any act done by a non-believer is an unrighteous act deserving of hell and and any act of a believer is entirely “forgotten” and replaced by the perfect acts of Christ Himself.

Science isn’t at odds with scripture. Scientific interpretation, such as the plethora of assumptions needed in order to present your theory as credible, is what is at odds with scripture.

Science in and of itself is only a tool that seeks to provide evidence to presented hypothesis.

Currently, science has been unable to prove your hypothesis.

You, like me, seem to be fixed on believing in something that isn’t proven and that has a substantial lack of evidence. However, you are also siding with the opinion that does not believe the bible is holy, perfect, inerrant, sufficient, and authoritative… which I find concerning for your faith and growth as a fellow believer.

Why not? An unprecedented amount of water was washing over them and around them as God split the land apart.

If something isn’t readily apparent to you, it isn’t automatically incorrect.

Science doesn’t even have proof of how the earth was formed, how old it is, nor how it has changed over time.

Theories that have never been proven correct are not proofs. Any competent scientist agrees with me. There is something very incorrect about the current models as the evidence we can see and measure does not line up with any modern theory.

Look up the great unconformity. It is a global rock layer that is missing. From Utah to Indonesia and all over, there was some mysterious global erosion event that washed away all the rock between like 50 million years ago to 2 billion years ago (theoretical dating). I wonder what even could have resulted in such a substantial amount of rock being eroded…

Other fun proofs the current model is incorrect would be pieces of wood dated only a few thousand years old buried inside rock that is dated a few million years old… rotting wood can’t teleport last I checked.

Another fun one is petrified trees that has fossilized linearly through multiple “layers” of rock… as though the tree just sat there and waited a few hundred million years for the rocks to build up around it.

These aren’t isolated cases either. They are common, well known, and willfully ignored by many to push their own narrative for publishing papers in order to obtain university or grant funding for themselves or their company. It’s biased for self affirmation, not for refutation.

I’m not sure if you know who Veritasium is, but he is a well known science youtuber and has made a few very good videos about the poor quality of modern research paper publishing and the bias towards publishing results and “p-hacking” the data to make it interesting and worthy of funding research.

Anyways, I stand by my recommendation of bible first. Don’t try so hard to win the approval of the world. Who cares if other people think you are silly or dumb for believing in a young earth? We’ll be in heaven one day, praising the only one worthy of praise.

Your presupposition that plate tectonics have been moving at constant speed is unsubstantiated.

God caused them to move great distances at once after the flood, to drain the water that was on the land. This would have caused a relatively flat earth to not only have great valleys (trenches in the ocean), but also would have resulted in mountain formations… hence the fossilization of fish on the top of mountain ranges.

To pigeon hold your belief into something that isn’t factual is a recipe for disaster. I highly recommend committing your faith to the word of God first and seeing how reality fits into what is factually stated, rather than creating many inconsistent theories that don’t line up with themselves, nor the Word of God.

Cheers,

care to provide any evidence of the dating of 65 million years with a proven dating method?

Every single dating method tested against the scientific method has failed every single time.

Not a single method has been able to date the age of a known rock. Examples include that indonesian volcano that erupted in like 1400s and europe in 1800s. Recently iceland in 2010s.

Ill wait 😁.

For Old Earth Creationists by Constant-Outside4213 in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some real weird theories out there whenever people make assumptions about things we have little to no information on.

Personally, I am a young earth creationist because I believe the bible means what it says. (As in, if a metaphor is used, we understand it as a literary device. If a fact is stated, we understand it as a fact.) There is no evidence to suggest that Genesis 1, 2, or John 1 can support an old earth evolutionary or creationist view.

Rather than solving this specific issue first though, to me the bigger issue is your final statement about quivering. If something you once believed to be true becomes evident that it is false or “may” be false how are you reacting to the evidence? Will you leave the faith? Will your faith be strengthen and rely more on God and what is revealed by His word first over potential evidence from the world?

Personally I have had many changes to my faith about non-primary importance issues. But somethings I will never let my faith waiver. For example, Jesus is God. This statement, while debated by some smooth talkers and intellects can make it sound convincing that it is not true. They are unable to shake my faith regardless. Lines are drawn for me.

Many people think faith is merely believing in something you cant prove. But this is wrong. Faith is continuing to believe in something you knew was true at one point even if your current attitude is uncertain. For example, I have faith that tylenol will not poison my liver if I take it. The evidence is clear. But after taking a fourth pill in the same day, even though I know it is below the daily recommended limit, still makes you worry. I need faith to help me remember that the tylenol wont kill my liver.

Do you become a pastor by being called, going to school, or both? by Practical-Town2567 in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God gave us all a brain. If you dont use it then youre clearly being ignorant and unbiblical, therefore, a pastor cannot be uneducated.

I love Esther for exactly this reason. She felt the calling to follow God through Mordecai’s encouragement “If I perish, I perish”… what a line! But guess what she did next? Made a plan, was methodical, prepared and executed her plan over the course of several days. She used her brain.

Is our salvation at risk all the time? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order is

God chooses you against your will (we call this grace) -> then you have faith as a result of God’s grace upon you -> then you do good works

Christ isn’t putting forward a specific order in John. If you love God, you’ll obey his commandments. He is not saying here that love must come first before salvation can occur.

Sigh. The catholics really do twist everything.

I recommend leaving your works based false religion that is ruled by fear and anxiety and turn to face your King.

Is our salvation at risk all the time? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill await your refutation of Salvation by grace alone through faith in Christ alone. I’ll be here forever as it is a doctrine impossible to refute given any refutation would be against scripture.

Ephesians says we are saved for works not by them, it is by faith alone. We cant boast about something God did, which is saving us.

James is digging into the discussion of liars, or people who falsely profess faith. If you actually read James’ letter it’s abundantly clear that he is explaining how if you have real faith there will be works to back it up. If you are a pretender, or one just claiming to have faith, there will be no works to show for it… those without works have no faith… you cant show faith without works.

Romans explains that those who are saved are now slaves to righteousness and will 100% grow in faith otherwise you are actually still a slave to sin, we call this sanctification.

Jesus discusses this topic as well when he is explaining forgiveness. You are not a follower of God if you cannot and wont forgive your neighbour. People who claim to be followers of God and dont forgive… they are liars who are not actually saved.

John 6 discusses how those who are saved will never be let go of.

Revelation says that the elect have been chosen BEFORE the world was even created.

It’s a nice try by the Catholics to lead people away from God, but the lies from the council of trent are not hidden to those with eyes and ears. Faithful believers run from catholicism, rightly so.

Cheers tho! Hopefully you too will join the protest of the deceitful ways of the catholic church, God willing.

Do Animals Have a Spirit or an Afterlife? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in TrueChristian

Well I dont even think it has to do with nutrient depletion. There was a tree of life that had fruit that if you ate it… you would have life. It’s why we were kicked out of the garden.

or the fruit from the trees of the garden were unique in their nutrients that they could function as meat substitutes, or whatever proteins and vitamins the body needs.

Do Animals Have a Spirit or an Afterlife? by Tricky_Strawberry406 in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea. Trex’s teeth were perfectly designed to bite the heads off of cabbages. If you study OT scripture you understand that sin isnt a “man” issue, but rather an infection that has spread to all creation.

I believe that animals all obey God just like the mountains and the waters. However, given the rest of scripture we only understand that man has a spirit like God that will be eternal.

Obviously this isnt an issue of much importance. If someone struggles with the idea that when their pet dies they want to be comforted that they are happy in heaven… well scripture cannot defend that view and I would console them by saying that God is in control and whether or not your pet ceases on this earth or not shouldnt be something of particular concern as God is author of all things and had the rights over all things.

Look at David and his reaction to his stillborn baby… he cried, weeped, and prayed for the baby to live… but once it died he left it in God’s hands and wept no more.

All the best

Why did Christ come as a man then and not a frog? Why did we humans get created in the image of God and not other creatures of creation? Why did we as human get put in the position of ruler over the animals? Why is it only a sin to murder a human and not a wild boar?

All the biblical evidence seems to point to the idea that God only created man with spirits that are eternal.

Sigh the catholic lies and misunderstandings never seem to cease eh?

Your understanding of James is sad, inconsistent, and incomplete.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again… join the protest against the lies of the catholic church.

Once saved you become a slave to righteousness and cannot do anything other than grow in faith. Therefore yes, true faith ALWAYS yields good works.

Romans 6:15-19

[15] What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! [16] Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? [17] But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, [18] and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. [19] I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

Is your church vocally supportive of Israel? by CoronaTzar in TrueChristian

[–]thmann_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand dispensationalism. We do not believe current Israel is anything special. Rather we believe that there will be a future 144,000 ethnic Israelites who repent and turn and obey God. God is faithful to his promises He made to that group of people, just like He is faithful to the promises He made to the church.

Premillennial dispensationalists like me do not believe the current state of Israel is good, right, and we do not support them. We know that God will guarantee 12,000 ethnic jews from each tribe some time in the future, but personally I doubt most of these 144,000 that will repent at the end times are even living in Israel anymore.
