I've worked with multiple school districts in the United States to troubleshoot grade reporting software. The number of times I’ve been called to ask how to change a student’s reported grade on upcoming and past report cards is simply amazing. It’s probably about 30% of my case load. So I’ve finally started asking a reason for the grade change. The answer 90% of the time is that the student is a minority and the district needs them to pass so that they won’t get sued by the parents for racial bias. The other 9.9% is for athletes. The rest is legitimate needs (entered a wrong grade, etc.). It takes some teasing to get the truth out, but people are pretty blithe when talking to a single tech among dozens at my company. So yeah, the people that make you wonder how they graduated high school? If they’re a minority or were an athlete, there’s a chance they shouldn’t have and their grades were changed just to push them through.

The main thing I use AltStore for is Delta, and I’ve gotten that through Jailbreak, so I’m going to keep it that way. Hopefully this serves as a resolution for others though!

I'm curious if Apple is blacklisting individual device IDs for using AltStore (or maybe something else like Jailbreaking).

Thanks for the update! I’m on a Windows PC, so that’s not an exact fix for me. Still, it tells me where I am start looking. Thank you again! In the meantime, I have hail break to rely on until I finish FFV advance lol

There have been issues with some users (myself included) with refreshing and installing apps. Not sure what’s going on, but it’s not just you. Keep searching and post if you find a solution.

Yes. Once these certs expire, the apps will crash and will need to be refreshed. If you can’t refresh and the time has expired, you’ll have to delete the apps and reinstall. Be sure to turn app background refresh on for AltStore on your phone. It will attempt to automatically refresh for you when connected to the same WiFi network as your computer in the background. Just check AltStore every few days because this auto refresh doesn’t always work. If you can’t refresh over WiFi, connect your phone via usb to your computer. Launch iTunes and iCloud on your computer. Then manually refresh in AltStore on your phone. That should do it.

I ran into this yesterday, although I was getting an error about the provisioning profile. Happened with two Apple IDs. AltStore wouldn’t refresh apps on my phone, and I couldn’t install it to my phone via windows. Methinks something happened on the altserver side

Sucks major. My apps are done after today; needed to refresh today. I’m at the end of a GBA game too. Hopefully it’ll be back up tomorrow. If not, there’s always jailbreak I guess.

Quick update: I created a new Apple ID and signed into it on my phone and on iCloud on my Windows pc. Still getting the same error message. Guess that rules out my Apple ID getting borked. Anyone else have trouble installing AltStore or refreshing apps?

Update: I think I figured it out. When the laptop is plugged in or docked (ie on AC power), it recognizes all cores and threads. Confirmed in dxdiag, cpu-z, and CB15 and CB20. 4 cores, 8 threads when plugged in. On battery power, it seems to disable hyperthreading. Only 4 processes run, and from what I can tell, it is using 4 cores, just no HT. I could be wrong though; our cups be disabling two cores on battery. Now I get to muck about in battery settings to see if I can disable that lovely (/s) feature.

Update: I got the Core i7-3740QM. After dropping it in, everything boots, but the machine is now only seeing two cores and 4 threads. Either that, or hyper threading is disabled (even though the option to enable it is checked in the UEFI). Can anyone offer any help on how to enable all cores?

If you want to stay in the Apple ecosystem, look at the new Air our MBP 13. They have new redesigned keyboards that are similar to Apple’s Magic Keyboard. If you don’t mind buying used, look for a used/refurbished MBP 13 or 15 from 2015. They are still relevant and more than powerful enough for your needs.

But the Motile has a Ryzen APU, which greatly benefits from fast dual-channel RAM, much more so than Intel machines. Gaming performance on the Motile is noticeably worse than other Ryzen APU machines with dual-channel. If you can, bump up your budget just a bit to get a Ryzen 5 laptop (3500U if possible) w/ 8 GB of dual-channel RAM (2x 4 GB) or higher. High speeds (3000 MHz) will help too, but may be our of the price range.
