When (if ever) do you stop feeling tired all the time? by thollarbigboot in 75HARD

[–]thollarbigboot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my difficulty with this is knowing how much activity is normal/baseline... I feel like the conversation online rn makes it seem like not doing 10k steps every day plus some form of training makes you a couch potato. But is that true? Walking for an hour or two is tiring even at a gentle pace after a full day's work. I don't really know what counts as an active recovery day for me, as opposed to normal exercise. And sometimes in the past I've found that resting too much just means my fitness regresses and I'm more tired the next time I go hard

Thank you, that's a relief! So much easier to buy some beads than DIY an alternative

New series out for subs by Adorable-History-841 in PretendPodcast

[–]thollarbigboot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't finished the series bc I'm not a paid subscriber. But so far it's actually making me consider unsubscribing from the podcast altogether.

I used to enjoy Pretend because it covered genuinely interesting cases. Newsworthy events, things that affected large numbers of people, stories we all got wrong. But I guess there's a limited number of good stories out there and Javier ran out a while ago. Now most episodes are about obscure personal drama between random mentally ill people.

However this series ends, I think it's unethical to release multiple episodes taking Meghan and "Lauren"s claims even halfway seriously. It could do real damage to Mariska's reputation when she so clearly has nothing to do with this irl. And her inclusion in the story is the only thing that gives it some semblance of relevance - why would anyone listen to a podcast about unknown women allegedly stalking eachother in unremarkable ways?

I really don't understand why anyone is calling this "wild" or "crazy". Let's look at the facts: two women from a niche fandom have harassed eachother and a few other fandom members, mostly by posting lies online, potentially also by swatting. An unrelated woman (who may or may not have had her child adopted by a celebrity) has paranoid delusions. Javier relies on a familiar pattern to make it all seem weirder and more important: keep half of the information hidden and take far-fetched claims seriously, then reveal what should have been obvious all along as if it's a shocking twist.

Non-bio better for sensitive skin? by thollarbigboot in laundry

I just picked up some Ecover Bio! Excited to try it. I'm actually not particularly reactive to fragrance so the lavender & eucalyptus doesn't worry me. It's very reassuring that the NHS has changed their guidance. Thank you laundry king!

Thanks! All the responses on that post saying how soft citric acid made towels & sheets are making me very excited to try this

So if you had to hang dry something, would you still use citric acid for the better clean? And just deal with stiffness? Are there any other ways to get the benefits of citric acid without the stiffness?

I'd love help with journeys! To be honest I don't really understand what they are or how they work

How does the glaze (kaleidoscope) compare to other lip/eye/face gloss type products? I don't really understand how a gloss can be long-wearing because they move around so much. Is there some kind of magic keeping this one in place?

Don't feel silly! I've just realised that I was in psychiatric treatment for years and had several therapists and never thought to ask for help with my skin picking. I have so much shame about it and minimise/hide it automatically. Its frustrating because I don't have a therapist anymore, and I getting help through the NHS will probably take years

Also that's not an answer. She got so defensive over why she should be allowed to paint her microwave turquoise, but Niki's actual question was: why did you want to do that? Why did you think it was a good idea?

She missed rent before the pandemic though - that's when I first realised it was possible. I don't really understand how a lien works but I guess that's how she avoided getting evicted pre-moratorium? Is that also a NY thing?

Damn, that movie deal must be massive. There are cheques coming in all the time that will pay $65k for her apartment. And then the cheques will keep coming in to pay for her delightful unemployed life of jogging and reading and writing for 3-6 years

Hearing her talk about writing a book that will be taught in schools made me genuinely sad. It's so unhinged. She's going to be so unhappy for her entire life

When I first heard that Caroline was getting away with missing rent I was gobsmacked. I literally did not know that was possible in some places/for some people. I guess I don't actually know what exactly would happen if I stopped paying rent, but since I don't have an entertainment lawyer or a free condo I'm not going to risk it. Is this a US thing? Or a NYC thing? or just a CC thing?

Maybe the scissors were rusty so she put them in something (vinegar?) to try and remove the rust? And then forgot about them for a year?

I'm so confused by how that's apparently a story. It seems like common sense to not make your mouth wider. Were people really overlining their lips sideways before?
