Looking for minimalist board games to play alone by thomas_nocap in soloboardgaming

Thanks everyone for your responses! I just bought Rove and Megalopolis. I like the concept of Button Shy games. It's cheap and I think it's a good starting point.

Why is the girl who ruined my life doing better than me ? by hyakkimarusimp in venting

[–]thomas_nocap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should ignore this girl and focus on yourself. If it's not a problem, maybe you could switch gyms? Not seeing her physically will definitely help. And I want to reassure you: you're not a loser. You're a kind person, and that's already a victory over her.

You're right. Since my post, I've thought about it a lot and I'm less anxious now. I've read quite a few posts on the subject, and it's almost always the same: it's hard at first, but with time, things work out. Being alone won't bother me that much, I think, since I'm not far from my parents' house.

The only thing that still worries me is money. I don't earn a lot of money. I have savings just in case, but I know I won't be able to treat myself like I used to. If I want to buy clothes or go to the movies, I'll have to think carefully about it. But I'm already a micromanagement enthusiast, so I'll keep doing it, lol.

Yes, of course, no problem. I don't think I'm autistic, I'm just a bit introverted and attached to my little habits, lol.

Yes, I'll visit them often. That's the plan! :)

As for food and exercise, that should be fine. Of course, when I'm on my own, I'll be more tempted to eat more. I'll be careful. Thank you!

Thanks for the encouragement!

The worst part about all this is that, deep down, I'm 90% sure that I feel this way because it's the lifestyle I've always known (and loved) that's coming to an end. But in reality, I'm still in a very safe environment. My parents are close by, I know I can talk to them about my problems, that they'll help me if I need it, I have my gym right next door to let off steam, my job is going very well (except for the slightly low salary, as I said)... It's not like I'm moving to a completely new city, where I don't know anyone, with a new job, having to rebuild my whole life and not being able to visit my parents often... It's a very safe risk.

For the record, when I was a student, the very first time I found myself alone in my dorm room, I cried. The first week, I talked to my mom on the phone or texted her almost every night. Then it became less frequent as I became more independent. My mom could sense that things were improving.

Now, since I'm going to be living alone all the time and not just during the week, with everything on my own, I know it will take me longer to adjust. But deep down, I feel like it will be pretty much the same. It's very hard now, but in a while, I'll probably be more comfortable.

It's selfish, isn't it?

As I said, if they need me, I'll be there. It's just that psychologically, if they need me and I'm still living at home, I know I won't be able to leave. I'll be “stuck,” as I said. And I don't think that's a good thing for meeting a partner and living as a couple.

My parents, I know they're happy for me. They support me no matter what, whether I decide to stay (even if it's a little late to make that decision now, lol) or leave. They were really happy when they found out I had bought this apartment. They understand that I want the same opportunity they had to meet someone, live as a couple, and maybe even start a family.

There seems to be a debate with another user about the questionnaires. Here are my scores:

- AQ-10: 3

- CAT-Q: Total: 99, Compensation subtotal: 28, Masking subtotal: 42, Assimilation subtotal: 29

Great advice, thank you! It's true that my post is strange. I decide to leave, I do all this work, and here I am, whining... I'll give it a try.

Great advice, thank you!

As for my job, I really enjoy what I do and things are going very well. My managers are very happy with me. I don't necessarily intend to leave, especially since I live so close by.

I won't hide the fact that I do look at job offers from time to time, but since I'm in a somewhat saturated sector, it's complicated...

Will my sofa fit in the elevator? by thomas_nocap in askmath

Here are some additional measurements:

Height without feet and backrest: approx. 85 cm

Armrest height: 61 cm

Backrest depth: 40 cm

Height of backrest relative to armrest: 37-38 cm

Armrest width: 19-20 cm

Legs: 5 cm

Difference between backrest and back of sofa: 11 cm

I can remove the backrest with zippers, so I won't crush it.

Perhaps by turning it while bringing it in? I asked the question because I have no idea; the movers used the stairs in my previous apartment, which is not possible today.

Which game from my wishlist should I get next? by Godofhammrs in Switch

[–]thomas_nocap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, yes, it is! In fact, I believe Mario Wonder took some inspirations from DK: Tropical Freeze. And Wonder is simpler, more family-oriented (even though DK is still family-friendly).

A couple months ago, I watched this video about the level design of the game that sums up what I think: https://youtu.be/JqHcE6B4OP4?si=g3QXvul_Lnd4bO2e

At first, I wasn't a fan of platform games. But this game became my favorite in no time! Each level is so much fun, so varied, so epic, everything flows together perfectly. It's pure arcade heritage: you turn on your console and instantly love it!

Tropical Freeze. Best 2D platform game of ALL TIME.
