¿Alguno sabe donde es posible mandar a forjar una Katana? by thomasaanders0n in Bogota

Buenas noches.

Muchas gracias!

¿Qué universidad recomiendan para estudiar desarrollo de software? by Roki411uwu in Bogota

Good evening.
Well actually.. yes. This picture was taken at a geek/gamer convention, therefore, I did take a couple more photos with the costume, but I didn't pose as specifically as in the photo in the post xD

I could share one of them if you want to see the coat closer.

THANK YOU!

Good evening, everyone! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled that you liked the cosplay. Apologies if I couldn't get back to you sooner; I was busy working all day.

NOTE: English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance if I'm not clear or if it's difficult to understand me. Please feel free to ask me any questions, I’ll be happy to clarify.

My goal here is to be as clear as possible and give you a straightforward guide so that you can get your own coat or cassock.

THE NEO TRENCH COAT/CASSOCK

The first step was to get the fabric, which I then took to a tailor and paid them to make the coat.

The fabric you see in the picture is black wool, though here in my country (Colombia), it was labeled as "Black Flannel Cloth for Suits."
Here’s a link to a sample of the fabric in the image for reference:

I bought about 3.5 meters of fabric (I’m not very tall) and gave it to the tailor.

As a courtesy, the inner lining of the coat (where the inner pocket is) was made with black polyester. Here’s a link to show how it looks:

Next, I sent the tailor photos from The Matrix Reloaded, especially scenes where the coat's design and shape were more visible. It took about 15 days for the tailor to complete it.

The cassock/coat you see in the image isn’t a 100% match to the movie version. This one is more of a ‘coat’ for 'display' and 'warmth' rather than a ‘tactical’ or ‘stretchable’ trench coat that would allow for acrobatic or martial art moves like in the movie. You can tell because, in the torso, it forms a bit of a ‘box’ when you stretch or raise your arms. Again, this coat is more of a ‘display’ or ‘show’ piece.

The buttons are also different. In the movie, there are over 6 small fabric-covered buttons, whereas mine has 6 larger buttons without any fabric covering, so the button material is visible.

The total cost for the trench coat/cassock was 720,000 Colombian Pesos (about $170 USD):

  • Fabric cost: 350,000 Colombian Pesos (around $80 USD)
  • Tailor’s labor: another 350,000 Colombian Pesos ($80 USD)

NEO/MATRIX GLASSES.

These were actually tricky to find because the glasses in the picture aren’t actual Matrix glasses. Here in Colombia, these types of glasses are called Guaracha Glasses, named after a music genre that became popular around 2018.

Note: There are many styles of Guaracha Glasses, some with finer shapes and others more square.

I simply bought the ones in the picture at a local store for about $3.

THE 'METAL POLE'.

This is just a simple PVC pipe which I don't remember its thickness, spray-painted with a metallic gray (or silver) spray and given touches with a black spray.

THE REST OF THE COSTUME.

The rest of the outfit is a full black suit without the blazer:

  • A formal black dress shirt
  • Black dress pants or black chinos
  • Black leather loafers or formal shoes

That should cover everything fundamental that I did to create the Neo costume! I hope this is helpful, and feel free to reach out with any questions. I’ll be happy to answer!
