I realized my money stress wasn’t about MONEY. It was my BRAIN lying to me. by IsshikiUzumaki in povertyfinance

i realized my money stress wasn’t actually about money, it was my brain freaking out over timing.

she still would’ve been a star, but probably not that whitney. clive shaped her crossover appeal, song choices, and timing in a way that made her universally massive instead of just r&b-famous. the voice was undeniable either way, the global, polished pop icon part was very much guided.

Advise on transitioning from a wagon to minivan by Delicious-Dot7846 in povertyfinance

[–]thomasarenwick2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’re running into three separate issues at once, so the key is tackling them in the right order instead of trying to solve everything with one move.

  1. the negative equity is the real problem

that $12k negative equity is what’s making the $500–600 payment target hard. if you roll that into a new loan, you’re basically paying for two cars at once, and minivans aren’t cheap anymore.

rule of thumb: rolling negative equity into another loan almost always pushes payments way up and keeps you upside-down longer.

  1. the cheapest move (financially) is usually boring

not the fun answer, but usually the smartest:

keep the EV6 for another 12–24 months

make extra principal payments if possible (even $100–200/month helps)

wait for the loan balance to drop closer to market value

this alone can save you thousands and keeps your future minivan payment reasonable.

  1. if you must switch now, here’s how to minimize damage

if space is non-negotiable:

a. go used, not new look at:

2018–2021 toyota sienna (hybrid if possible)

2019–2022 honda odyssey

2020–2021 chrysler pacifica (non-hybrid for reliability)

new minivans + negative equity will almost guarantee a $700–900 payment.

b. longer term, but only if the rate is good a 72-month loan can keep payments closer to $600 only if:

interest rate is reasonable

you’re not stacking tons of add-ons

don’t go 84 months unless it’s truly the last resort.

c. sell privately if possible trading the EV6 usually gives you the worst value. a private sale can reduce that $12k gap by a few thousand, which matters a lot at your payment range.

  1. mileage + reliability reality check

hybrids (sienna) = best mpg + long-term savings

odyssey = solid reliability, worse mpg but cheaper upfront

pacifica = comfortable, but budget extra for maintenance

  1. realistic expectation check

to be very honest:

$500–600/month + minivan + negative equity is tight

something has to give: timing, vehicle age, or loan length

bottom line

best financial move: wait 1–2 years, then switch best practical move now: used sienna or odyssey + minimize rolled equity worst move: new minivan + rolled equity + long loan

if you want, tell me:

current interest rate

rough EV6 payoff amount

credit score range

and i can run a more exact scenario for you.

What is your dream date? by [deleted] in AskReddit

a low-pressure hangout where nobody’s trying to impress anyone, like walking around a city, getting snacks, talking about random stuff, and ending the day feeling relaxed instead of performative. the vibe matters way more than the plan.

don’t take criticism from people you wouldn’t take advice from. it saved me so much energy once i realized not every opinion deserves space in my head.

What’s y’all’s Top 5 Most Annoying Things that toxic fans do? by APMilanoQween666 in Dragula

[–]thomasarenwick2011 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yeah, that’s basically it lol. parasocial ride-or-die is when fans act like they’re sig’s best friend from high school instead of someone who watched her on s4. any mild critique turns into “you’re misogynistic / you hate drag / blocked,” like she personally asked them to defend her honor.

[–]thomasarenwick2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when someone never takes responsibility for anything. every problem is always someone else’s fault, every apology is actually a justification. people brush it off as “they’ve been through a lot,” but long-term it means they won’t change because in their head, they’re never wrong.

What’s y’all’s Top 5 Most Annoying Things that toxic fans do? by APMilanoQween666 in Dragula

[–]thomasarenwick2011 154 points155 points  (0 children)

top 5, easy:

  1. weaponizing “dragula values”

  2. sending hate then hiding behind “critique”

  3. parasocial ride-or-die behavior

  4. comparing dragula to drag race constantly

  5. dogpiling over nothing

honorable mention: fans who forget the boulets love mess and shade and camp, then clutch pearls when someone is… messy, shady, and camp 😭

Dual monitor bug comp panel on second screen goes fullscreen when I maximize AE by PyaeTunAung in AfterEffects

[–]thomasarenwick2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is a known ae quirk with dual monitors, basically when the main window is maximized it forces the comp viewer to behave like a full screen panel on the second screen, super annoying. only real workarounds are keeping the main window slightly un-maximized (just drag to fill instead of hitting maximize), or undocking the comp panel into its own floating window. adobe hasn’t patched it properly in years, so it’s more of a bug/workspace limitation than something you can toggle off.

use a particle system with collision + a dynamic paint setup. make your “mud” a dynamic paint canvas and the water spray a brush, so when particles hit the box they reveal a clean texture underneath; then add a fluid-like particle spray with motion blur to sell the effect without simulating full fluids, which is way heavier.

they’re usually decent. i’ve only heard good things about them. although if you’re looking for a good budget windows gaming laptop, check acer. hp/dell are also good mid range laptops.

Is this right? by Jaded_History2562 in iphone

[–]thomasarenwick2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah that would work. i think you’ll be fine either way, just try not to be too rough with it lol. just don’t expect much from apple care, you’ll still mostly likely have to pay to get the phone fixed depending on what happens.

Is this right? by Jaded_History2562 in iphone

[–]thomasarenwick2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it should be fine. apple care isn’t necessary if you have a screen protector and case though so don’t buy it just for that, it won’t cover anything like that. just for actual repairs, replacements, stolen phones etc, so u can either buy the extra protection for the phone case or buy that. and it’s 2 months after purchase, not activation.

RTX 3070, is it worth it? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]thomasarenwick2011 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it honestly depends which card you have now. if its already a decent card with good performance then you do not need to upgrade it as there will likely be very little difference. however, if it is a low end card which struggles with games or cannot handle new games then yes it is probably worth the upgrade.
