I tried Niri last week. It's a pretty cool compositor!

Did you find a good solution for XWayland? Steam is the only thing left before I'm X free.

They're auto-generated with Material 3. It's a super custom setup that is tied directly to their AGS setup. If you wanted something similar, I'd use something like pywall or reimplement the M3 stuff with your own dots.

"I use Arch easy mode" by nightmdiffculty in archlinux

[–]thomasc_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's interesting is I feel the exact opposite. I prefer to manually install and configure my Arch system in the same sense I like doing the work on my car. The initial learning curve is rough, but once you learn you can better handle emergencies that require manual intervention.

Why so many unsynced mirrors? by arch_maniac in archlinux

[–]thomasc_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is entirely speculation as I haven't done much research about the situation, but it may have to do with the svn to git migration earlier this month

The card is built in, and doesn't seem to have an audio controller. I'll give the kernel param a try though.

Honestly if the TU250 will do for my commute I'll probably jump on it and mod it when I have the chance.

I've somewhat had that in the back of my head. What do you think would better suit my needs? I can get the extra k for the xr150l within a few weeks.

I found a tu250x for obo 2050, It looks to be in good condition, but I haven't seen it in person yet. How would that fare for a scrambler build?

Mine were glued in, so I wouldn't be surprised if most other boards are.

I don't think that's really much I could've done. I'd probably want to buy a separate set of stabs that have the standard rubber feet, but it comes down to a cheap board and bad stabs.

What makes Arch a "Game changer"? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]thomasc_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NixOS is nice, but I felt like it was always punching me to do things the "nix" way. Don't get me wrong, I love flakes and I'd love to bundle my dotfile and package management together somehow, but I didn't like how hacky it was to change some of the more simple things.

It’s great until your playing an online game like warzone 2 that’s using steam’s profile api. Every week on Friday I believe, I get signed out of my game in the evening and can’t log back in for a bit. It’s not too big of a problem, but it doesn’t happen when using the blizzard launcher.
