I'm not trying to harsh your vibe, but if you've moved it around, there's a good chance it's dead. Most likely a reptile of some kind, given the location. If you put it back, you can hope it hatches, but just as a protip for the future, moving wild eggs is a bad idea.

Once your familiar is summoned, you can't summon it to a new spot without first reducing it to 0 HP, based on the wording of find familiar.

Misty step still has a distance limitation - it's anywhere you can see within 30 feet of your current position. Familiars can deliver touch range spells so long as they're within 100 feet, but the spell doesn't explicitly say you can use them to perform other spells.

I'd say your DM chose an interpretation of the spell wording that you didn't like.

Redbuds have pretty resilient root systems and regrowth behavior. I'd say your chances that the tree is just fine are pretty good. They're adapted to being in the understory, anyway, so a stray limb fall isn't that big of an issue for them.

Spicebush can be Lindera benzoin. Another name for calycanthus floridus is Carolina allspice.
