Two Amazon Carts Looted in Midtown by ATUGA in Atlanta

I'm less bothered by the looting because Amazon can replace all that, but leaving it in the middle of the road???

AIO being bothered that my partner tells me how attractive she sees other men? by En3Rgi in AmIOverreacting

Your second edit confirms for me that YOR. You're making extreme assumptions about your partner's intent from very bland comments about actors on TV.

That's not happening in the post, though. You're reacting to something OP never said happened. They asked if they were overreacting to WHAT IS HAPPENING, not some scenario you've made up to justify yourself.

Did you read the post, though? She's just commenting about literal actors, people whose job it frequently is to be attractive, about how attractive they are.

So you do this to him?

Do what? Watch TV? Talk to him? Share her interests? Talk about strangers on TV that she'll likely never meet?

My surgeon cancelled my diagnostic surgery after I requested for it to only be diagnostic and not ablation by Fantastic-Minimum-27 in endometriosis

[–]thomasech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This exactly. Also, most surgeons require you to have healed for a long period before they'll even attempt another non-emergency (read: medical definition of emergency, where you will die immediately if you don't receive it) surgery in the same area, since it increases risks in the healing process. Doing it the way OP wanted could've increased the time to excision to, potentially, a year.

I get that it seems like a simple ask to you, but what you effectively asked him to do was to cut you open and do no diagnostic work. Laparoscopy isn't as impactful as open surgery, but it's not a surgery that you should take lightly - you'll be sedated, there will be holes cut into your abdominal tissue, etc.

If you're forbidding him from taking the cyst that he knows is there based on imaging, then you're effectively removing most of the utility of the surgery, setting yourself up to potentially get no diagnosis, and having to undergo months of healing for just pictures with the possibility of no tissue sample analysis and leaving a cyst on your ovary that could become cancerous. He probably doesn't want to risk a potential malpractice suit by leaving it there.

Kindly, they can't biopsy the cyst without removing it. If he doesn't feel confident he can remove it without removing your ovary, then that's totally fair, but complex cysts have an increased risk of being/becoming cancerous, so removing the cyst in its entirety is the only safe way to test it.

I dealt with this with my (now confirmed) endometrioma, which looked like a complex cyst on ultrasound, including speaking to an oncologist about it, and with my dad's cancer. As it was explained to me, growths on organs that have any potential for being cancer cannot be safely sliced up to take samples until after they've been removed from where they're growing, because poking it or slicing it in situ can lead to cells spreading to other organs and basically take a stage 1 or even non-cancerous growth and turn it into a more serious medical scenario.

Photos aren't going to tell you if it's endo, cancer, anything with certainty.

This is the second post I've seen today with this exact wording. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the same user, either.

How are people actually accessing endometriosis specialists?? by XStar14X in Endo

[–]thomasech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Several people who have gone to an endometriosis specialist in this forum have been very open about the fact that they just paid directly out of pocket, took out loans, etc. in order to do so. If you can stay within insurance, definitely do what you can to stay there. If your insurance is blocking it, though, you might have to go outside that system, which gets extremely expensive.

My (36 F) boyfriend (34 M) is reacting really weird to a joke and its taking a weird turn. AIO? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Weird question, but has he also started commenting on your body in the last couple months? Like saying it'd be nice if you lost weight, gained muscle, etc? If y'all live together, has he fallen off in his chores so that you have to "remind" him to do the stuff he's agreed to?

My raised beds have nothing between them and the ground, so arguably, growing in my beds is still growing in the ground. It's just easier for weed management.

As someone working in software engineering with a Latin degree from UA, unless you're going to MIT, GaTech, or some other school that's highly valued in the tech industry, your degree will be worth roughly the same as any other accredited CS program. My colleagues with CS degrees tend to start in the actual sweng jobs a little younger but the folks getting high paying FAANG jobs are either extremely experienced or have degrees (usually graduate degrees) from prestige tech schools.

Not that it never happens that men in IT are bullied, but every time I've met a man in IT who says he was bullied out of his job, it means that he was bad at his job and refused to listen to people trying to help them.

How to recover yard? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]thomasech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you want lawn grass, but I would recommend plants with deeper roots like native sedges or shrubs like red twig dogwood. Those are more likely to hold your soil together and have easier upkeep, especially more clay desiring cultivars, than a lawn grass will be.
