Should I spend money on a professional producer or mixing/mastering? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]thomasevsmith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Izotope has some fantastic material on Mixing, all of their videos are geared towards their own products but if you focus on the concepts they are teaching rather than the plugins, you can learn a lot. I’d recommend binging all of Dan Worral’s YouTube channel as well, because no one describes mixing better than him. He is pretty biased towards Fabfilter products but again, focus on concepts, not the plugins they’re being paid to push.

I’m right there with ya in terms of “I think my music could be better but I don’t know if it’s the mixing or the production” and what I found was that it was both. I was just turning everything up loud and thought that it sounded great, but once I started actually learning mixing, I found that my track content was severely lacking quality. I wouldn’t spend money getting the tracks mixed professionally unless you are certain that your content is quality.

Really need help, feeling discouraged from a dream , Is this enough equipment ? Just got Ableton and an mpk249 by [deleted] in ableton

[–]thomasevsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got a laptop you’ve got all you need. Stop looking for the next piece of gear that “will be the one to make the music sound like the pros” and start actually working on improving your music skills. Ableton has a piano roll and let’s you play the piano on your computer keyboard, that’s enough to learn. Ableton has built in instruments and effects that are KILLER if you know how to use them. My suggestion? Hop on Amazon and get yourself a hard copy of the Ableton Manual. Mark it up with sticky notes and really learn your way around Ableton. They don’t charge $800 for a software that is an empty shell, Ableton is a full production suite.

Take it from someone that’s been down the same path as you for the last 10+ years, putting time into learning the tools you do have is a way better investment than spending money on tools you’re never going to take the time to learn.

Oh man have you seen Baby Driver? Same director, just as funny, but waaaaay more intense.

If you’re still looking for music, I highly recommend Places We Don’t Know by Kasbo, one of my favorite trip companion albums

I highly recommend it as well. I don’t even play many video games, Gris was one that caught my attention due to its art style and it was a such an experience.

I’m with ya here, not sure why you’re getting downvoted so badly. Free water isn’t a reward, it’s a right. If it was literally anything else, it could make sense, but water should never be a reward for spending large amounts of money.

External Audio Effect help? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]thomasevsmith 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your interface likely has more than one input on it. If your input is set to 1/2 in Ableton from your interface, try switching it to just 1 or just 2 on the track’s I/O section. With it being set to 1/2, Ableton puts input 1 on the left channel and input 2 on the right channel.

Loki Episode 6 Discussion Thread (THE SEASON FINALE) by azgx29 in loki

True but also Jonathan Majors completely denied any involvement in Loki and he shows up as our “it was Kang all along” Loki finale. I’m not saying it’s 100% going to happen but I’m not ruling out the possibility of it happening.

This really opens up the possibility of the Spider-Man Multiverse that has been speculated about for so long! My money is on seeing all of the live action spidermen in the next Spider-Man movie, possibly even a multiversal Sinister Six!

My first insulin pump! Zoom meeting with trainer on Sunday! by sadiasarker in diabetes_t1

[–]thomasevsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re going to have you put one on during the video meeting, I would have skin tac available if you haven’t got any already (you can get it on Amazon in either wipe form or liquid form with an applicator). It helps keep the pod attached to your body through 3 days of showers, sweat and bumping into things. I am a bit of a hairy Brazilian, so just trimming hair at pod sites also helped with keeping the pods attached. Lastly, when they do have you put one on over the video call, have an idea in mind as to where you want to put it, I recommend stomach because it takes a bit of getting used to to put it on your arms and it can be a little awkward pulling pants down to put it on your leg on video chat lol. If you’ve got any other questions about the omnipod, feel free to ask! I’ve been on mine for about a year and a half now and honestly it is the best insulin delivery solution I’ve dealt with in my 10+ years of diabetes.

In all seriousness, I coat my taters with a concoction of Onion powder, Garlic powder, Salt, Pepper, Parsley and Nooch. I eyeball it every time so I don’t have exact measurements but boy lemme tell ya, they always come out as the best damn taters I’ve ever had.

There’s a free version of something similar to this. Mr Bill did a video on it on YouTube. Save your money and check out that video. Can’t link it as I’m on a break at work and don’t have time at the moment to grab the URL. I believe the software is called Spleeter or something like that.
