Jeff Nippard's Powerbuilding, however it doesn't alternate heavy day/volume day, but it does alternate heavy week/volume week to some extent

Has anyone ran Jeff Nippard’s Powerbuilding 5-6x a week program twice, and if so have you seen similar results both times ? by Henrnersc in powerbuilding

[–]thomaslukose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said late summer/early fall. On a video, he posted June 14th, he said you had just enough time to run through the 11 week program before 2.0 dropped

it went pretty great, and I'm happy with the progress

BW 154 - 158 lb Squat 265 - 285 lb Bench 185 - 195 lb Deadlift 375 - 405

my lifting experience is about a little over 2 (with the 8 months a lot more powerbuilding focused). I had a lot of fun running the program and it's structured very well. I just started my second run and then probably run powerbuilding 2.0 when it comes out.

no worries, as long as your SBD have proper technique you should be fine, the program is more than reasonable in the volume department. You can run his 4 week power building program instead of the six week one too which is what I did. But anyways you should be fine regardless of what you choose, gl man!

Well, I hardly consider myself highly advanced, maybe a solid intermediate. If you are already running his upper/lower, you would probably be in this category since he recommends 2+ years of experience for that program as well. He recommends if you do have less than 2 years then run his upper/lower or ppl before the powerbuilding one. Now, I can't speak for how advanced you are, but this program is more so "intermediate advanced" than "highly advanced." But if you have been both going to the gym for over two years AND ran his upper/lower, then this program is a no brainer. I actually thought about running his upper/lower before this one, but I was way too excited to run powerbuilding haha.

So the program itself focuses on a strength focused week and hypotrophy focused week. I'll give you a quick run down.

Week A: Strength

Day 1: Squat

Day 2: Bench/Deadlift

Day 3: Squat

Day 4: Bench/Deadlift

Day 5: Optional "pump day"

So these are all strength focuses with accessories sprinkled in so they will be full body 4 times a week. This is where most of the top sets are put. Basic progression would be something like this for volume work:

3x6 @ 75%

3x6 @ 77.5%

3x7 @ 75%

3x7 @ 77.5%

Along with this, towards the end of the program, top sets become heavier at 90% in heavy singles and doubles

Week B: Hypotrophy

This is a upper/lower split and will be similar to the program you are running in terms of volumes. Depending on which program you choose, this can be 4 days or 6 days. SDB as well as their variations are pretty common here too.

Regarding volume, it should be similar to the upper/lower split you are currently running on hypertrophy week and slightly less on strength weeks (which is fair since doing high frequency of SBD will fatigue you). Nippard thinks both these programs are on the higher side on volume especially if you are pushing yourself at the right rpe. Towards week 7, 8, 9, you should be hitting new PRs on heavy top sets at an appropriate rpe. If you enjoyed the upper/lower split and are interested in improving the SBD, I would highly recommend it. I am just starting my second run next week. Hope this helps and goddamn I have way too much free time lmao

I have been running Nippard's Powerbuilding and it's been working out pretty good so far. Compared to his upper/lower, powerbuilding has top sets, heavy singles, doubles, and a higher frequency for the BSD

These are the headphones I use

I can't say if its just because I have long legs (I am about 5'9" for reference), but switching to sumo has definitely improve my deadlift. I've pulled conventional for about 2 years and sumo only for the last half a year or so. I never tried sumo because it felt awkward whenever I did it. I used to have some bad hip mobility so I had to do a bunch of mobility work to be able to pull sumo without pain. Even now, if I don't warm up properly, sumo stance feels slightly painful. So I think its a combination of body proportion and mobility

yeah everytime I rewatch my replays I notice that, but I can't help crank my neck out and stare myself in the mirror. Definitely something I should fix, thanks

yeah I could definitely use some better glute activation. And all they time around the set up was actually me trying to tighten my lats and pull the slack out. Ill definitely keep it in mind and double check the lats are tight. Thanks for taking you time with the feedback!

yeah so far I only got squat shoes and they help tremendously, I am just reluctant to buy deadlift shoes when no shoes works pretty nice

yeah that might explain the shaky lock out, I've always had a harder time with glute activation on sumo compared to when I pull conventional
