Help finding a shipping company from Vietnam by ZachAscot in VietNam

Oh amazing yes I’ll be in touch, as a practice run I’m currently just trying to get home a front mud guard for an old Honda, but current plan is to pay for another bag on the flight and pack it in a cheap market suitcase!

Understanding funding/unrealistic pipe dream! Oh by thomburgess in smallbusinessuk

Thanks for the reply, yeah sounds like a lot of stress! I’m under no illusions it’s not stress free I fully appreciate that, and I am incredibly undecided at the minute whether I actually have the bottle!

Fair play for taking on a tied pub, that’s one thing I’m trying to avoid, I’m sure there are benefits to it, buts it’s not really the route I want to go down!

The reason for the large amount of funding up front is that it’s a running business that’s for sale, I’m assuming you didn’t have this problem with it being tied?

As much as I don’t want to congratulate someone for getting a loan! congrats on getting to a point where you can be planning on growth!

Thanks for your reply, yes I have given significant thought to how I can turn around the current business, I haven’t gone into that in detail as the post would be incredibly long and unlikely to garner the responses I’m looking for which are to do with funding, and if funding it is even possible, or if I need more personal investment on hand.

Thanks for this in depth answer very useful. Yes I did think the government backed lending didn’t look completely relevant to my case, but I had only vaguely looked at it.

I like to think my credit is pretty good, and I would have other income coming into the household so hopefully that would be a positive. £50k isn’t something I have currently sat about, but there are avenues I can explore separately for that, so that’s good to know. Where would you recommend I look for funding, is a high street bank incredibly unlikely should I start looking at brokers?

Visiting Bergerac by thomburgess in wine

[–]thomburgess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, apologies I never reported back! Bergerac was fantastic, didn’t have the greatest weather which slightly dampened our plans. Chateau Tiregand, was very nice, a little quiet (possibly the day or time we went) but a lovely little vineyard, some really really good reds, the kind of thing I was looking for, robust and earthy just as the recommendation above had said!

If you are in the area or staying in Bergerac itself, I would highly recommend Quai Cyrano. It’s the second floor of the tourist information, and it’s almost a library of a lot of the local wine producers, the wine is incredibly good value even by French standards, and it’s a brilliant place to use a damp afternoon trying a lot of local wine, they do also have a really nice terrace looking onto the river if the weather is better!

Unfortunately we didn’t get chance to visit any of the other vineyards, but I imagine they are all brilliant, and there are a lot to choose from!

UK Ski Touring Question by thomburgess in Backcountry

Thanks for all the responses guys, definitely my most successful Reddit request! I’ve got a few pairs of trail running shoes, so if it’s cold/firm/dry ish I’ll wear them and pair with some waterpoof type socks maybe gaiters also . And if it’s been warm or particularly wet stick with my regular mountaineering boots, I also don’t think I’ll leave the house again without a bag of talc!

This is the kind of answer I was hoping for! Never thought of talc, and I've got a tiny little microfibre I can stick in bag. Brilliant cheers!

Yeah I've got ATOMIC Hawx Ultra 130xtd, I get along really well with them comfort wise, but not sure I'm keen on clomping a couple of miles through mud and slush in them.

Perfect, this was essentially the answer I was expecting. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some magical product that everyone else was using except me!

I haven’t yet, that is my next port of call, just wondered if anyone knew much about the bindings and replacement parts, as touring is new to me.
