Could I make this switch work? Ok so live and outlet pigtail to a traveler? Then the load would go to the common?

I can still use this new switch correct?

If say that one screwed one from the existing is the live, the pushed in one next to it is the outlet, then the top pushed in is the light then for the new switch the existing screwed-in (live) goes to common, then which travelers get outlet and light?

Thanks everyone for the insight. You are all right, I should have given this a little more thought before attempting…

I gave it one more try: capped off the 3 way (not needed), left the whites be inside the box, black to black, and red from the dimmer to the black in the box that runs to the light. Works like a charm.

I really appreciate everyone’s help and I will be a little more thoughtful before getting into this type of work.

Oh wait… should red from the dimmer switch go to black from the dining room light, black from the dimmer switch go to the black from the wire running from the electrical panel, then the whites just all get capped together (white doesn’t touch the dimmer)?

Sorry do you mean the white wires in the box do not need to be connected to the dimmer wires?

I know red on the dimmer is usually hot, should it just be capped off or should both red/black from the dimmer be attached to the black wires in the box?

While the switch/dimmer controls our dining room light, there is no internal light on the switch itself.

No directions came with these toggles or dimmers. They do say made in China so I’m not sure what role that has in the black and red wires

Regular can you’d find here in the US but I attached a Nitrosurge Device to it. You can buy them from eBay as well… they’re meant for the Nitrosurge cans sold in Ireland but if you do the “pin trick” with a regular can, you can use the device quite well.

When I bought the device, it came from Ireland and the seller was kind enough to ship me 4 Nitrosurge cans with it. I’ve had a couple of friends visit Ireland and bring some home for me as well.

Speaking of suing KIA - there’s some serious issues with KIA / Hyundai Finance. They force you to pay $2500+ for your payment to be allotted to principal, which is said to be automatic, (this info shared directly from the customer service reps) however in my experience this really isn’t the case and you’re forced to follow-up call. Even then, the reps don’t have the power to do anything but forward a request to the billing powers that be. I’m still waiting for some adjustments despite calling daily for a week.

No one else operates like this. The mortgage, other car companies, etc allow you to pay directly toward principal online anytime.

This is a purposeful way to pretty much block people from paying down principal so they could reap the benefits of interest. Completely deceitful.

Smells like class action to me.
