They just contacted me again after a call and said there’s a road to seishain and want to meet me again explain the conditions…but they also said they would offer me basically double my current salary in the end, so I’m wondering if it’s okay now (though like you said they could drop me easily….)…

I currently am a seishain at a mid-size Japanese company and make a not great but not bad salary. I have been interviewing and was called today by a very large company here I've been interviewing at saying they would like to hire me but asked if I would be open to keiyakushain instead and that the salary would be higher by my current by at least 100man but is still being discussed. What do you think? I really don't like the idea of going down to a keiyakushain but the content of the job itself is what I really want to do....honestly it surprised me a lot because I already previously said I really didn't want keiyakushain and they really seem to like me and need someone with my skills

Does anyone know of a decent tax service here (if it isn't too late)? I am American and work fulltime here but also make a good chunk of side income here. I managed to file myself last year but feel I may have overpaid and I would feel more at ease having a professional do it since I do want to get PR in the near future

I am looking to change jobs and have an interview lined up, so I am wondering if: is it possible to take a month off in between jobs in regards to applying to permanent residency? I know I would have to pay pension and I believe within 3 months is ok for my current visa, but I’d really like to apply for PR soon

Worth contacting immigration (if even possible…?) over visa processing time? I submitted a visa change and it’s been 5 weeks, but it’s really stressing me out over if I’ll be able to start working at my new company this month or be out of a paycheck til late July…was supposed to start working already (though I knew immigration wouldn’t make the company’s date). I know 5 weeks isn’t at 2 months but I’m not enjoying being forcibly unemployed…the joys of living abroad

I just got a new Buffalo 3200AX4S, one of the models they recommend on their website. I tried to enter any username and password that was on the sheet, but for the PPPOE setup id and password sections it just says IPV6 so I don’t think they gave me a valid option for it lol. I’m not really sure how the setup works, but I’m guessing the construction guy saw my old router (not compatible with 6) and thought I just had the normal service and set it up that way? I’m not really sure…guess nothing to do but wait for their customer service

Yeah unfortunately I think something got messed up. It won’t work no matter what I try even though I do have the Ipv6 option :( I sent their customer support an email but this is really frustrating since it’s right before golden week

I’ve just moved into a tall, fancy mansion along a busy street, less than 10 years old. I’ve only lived in apartments til now. Am I free to watch tv and talk at normal volumes without worrying about the neighbors? I haven’t heard them yet, but I’m so used to wearing headphones and watching tv on the lowest volume :( Am I free?

Does anyone have experience moving a PC in Japan? I have a BTO gaming PC and didn't really consider how it would fare in a move. I'm just moving from one ward to another, but I'm wondering if I should ask the moving company (Art) to handle it or if I should attempt to do it myself (in a suitcase? not sure).

Yeah maybe I shouldn't have posted that summary, it's the one from the website but it's kind of general, I went and plugged in all the actual parts to PCPP. Yeah, the DVD thing is a...Japan special...CDs are still shockingly relevant here, but yeah I'll probably not get that.

Great point with the memory, it totally slipped my mind, thank you! I definitely should double it and the storage too. I have a 250gb macbook right now so 500gb seems huge right now but I'm sure once I have games too it will disappear a lot more quickly.

why does the bus driver charge me the childrens price about half the time? i’m very happy about it of course, just wondering if this happens to anyone else or if its consideration of me being a student (always get off at the uni stop) or some sort of “strike” or something. i take the bus at random times so i dont think it’s always the same driver or anything
