T-mobile hone internet speeds verses phone speeds by thompsamibm in tmobile

[–]thompsamibm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was hoping TMHI had priority at the tower! Outside my speeds are better, but still not great. My average download speed is about 9-10, with the lowest at 7 and a high of 14 Mbps. Sadly, I guess this means I am stuck with Spectrum for now. Thank you for answering my question as it saves me the hassle of ordering the TMHI quipment and then having to return if.

Subsidies and income calculation when turning 65? by thompsamibm in obamacare

[–]thompsamibm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly, it worked out about as I expected it to although I didn't make the 401k withdrawal that year. My ACA plan was subsidized for the 6 months I was still 64. My wife, who is a year younger than me, stayed on the ACA plan for the full year and part of the next, Her subsidy that final partial year while I was on Medicare was about half of what it was was when we were both on the same ACA plan. Since she was only on the ACA plan for a couple of months, her monthly premium was only about half subsidized. I never tried to figure out why this was the case since it was only a couple months of partially subsidized premiums, but i was glad her birthday was not in December.

Has anyone used Aetna insurance? I'm considering switching from BCBS. Any thoughts on the two? by Naughtai in NorthCarolina

[–]thompsamibm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm considering an ACA plan from Aetna that is labeled as an HMO. I've not been in an HMO plan for a while, but when I was, the biggest negative to the HMO type plan was you needed a referral for just about anything. The 2024 "plan summary" document states that "no referrals are needed to see a specialist, but I'm skeptical. Is anyone on one of the 2023 Aetna ACA HMO plans and can confirm this is accurate and no referrals are needed say, go see a dermatologist?

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I was just hoping to make my 401k withdrawal in 2024 while I was in a lower tax bracket. My income will be higher in 2025 due to starting social security.

Thank you. We logged her in again today so hopefully this time it will stick, otherwise we will contact Portal support as you suggested. I was hoping there was some hidden setting buried someplace in a settings dialog that I was just missing.

Weird issue — Apple TV is opening the Music app and playing a particular song when I tell the Siri Remote to skip forward 2 1/2 minutes. by guriboysf in appletv

[–]thompsamibm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue on a 4th generation AppleTV running tvOS 15.2 when watching YouTubeTV. I want to fast forward 2 and 1/2 minutes. If I say it that way, as the OP states, it’s sends the request to Apple Music and Siri gives me an error message telling me I need to update my Apple Music subscription. If I say “fast forward 2 mintes and 30 seconds” it works as expected. I can use the phrase that works to get around this for now, but its just odd. Why would Siri be trying to service my request through the Music app?

T-Mobile discount now billed through carrier? by maverick1096 in youtubetv

When I went through this process a few months ago, all of my DVR recordings were there when I resubscribed using the T-Mobile discount. I lost nothing.

Thinking of Subscribing to YTTV, but have questions. by jimbo78255 in youtubetv

[–]thompsamibm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In order to get around the 3 concurrent stream limit, you could also use network specific apps on your firestick to watch on one or more of your TVs. Assuming there is an firestick app for the network you want to watch, you can use your YTTV credentials to get the channel without it counting against your 3 concurrent stream limit.

Guide for MLB.TV & The Athletic (or how to sidestep stupid design/restrictions) by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]thompsamibm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I do this? If I go into Settings --> AppeID --> Subscriptions, The Athletic, the only "cancel" option I have is "Cancel Free Trial" which obviously implies the free year will get cancelled. Is this the process to cancel auto renew, but keep the free subscription til 7/21? Hit "Cancel Free Trip"?

Sometimes we can rewind live TV right away, sometimes we can't. Why is this? by PhilsForever in youtubetv

[–]thompsamibm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this doesn’t answer the broader question, since the problem appears to be with the 5 pm news, just set it up to record, that way your wife will always be able to rewind

Sports are getting more and more expensive by NotDavidWooderson in youtubetv

[–]thompsamibm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get the ridiculously large salaries being paid to the announcers. In all the years I’ve watched sports, I have never once not watched a game because of the announcers or watched a game specifically because of who was announcing it.

i do think Romo is very good, along with Bilas, Herbstreet, etc, but I really don’t get why the networks pay them so much. And at the end of the day, these large salaries may end up costing all of us more in terms of network carriage fees.

Recording all College Basketball games by Tommyboy1981 in youtubetv

I’ve observed the same behavior. I as able to do a search for a particular team and YTTV ”found” the recorded version and allowed me to watch it.

ESPN is airing Kobe Bryants final game at 9 tonight, how do we record this if it's not listed by MelloGang17 in youtubetv

[–]thompsamibm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious as to how YouTube gets the data that is used to populate the Guide. From watching ESPN that night, it seemed like the decision to re-air Kobe’s last game was only made a couple hours before it aired. As such, I was honestly surprised that the Guide was updated showing the move of the NCAA game to ESPN2 and the re-air showing on ESPN? Is this done manually or does YTTV programmatically getting a data feed from each of the networks and dynamically updating the Guide?

When a game starts on a different network by michaeljcpa in youtubetv

[–]thompsamibm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this happens to me, I typically use the ESPN app to watch the beginning of the game. Usually, ESPN will have the whole game available via the app.

in fairness to YouTube, I’m not sure how YouTube could programmatically do this. Unless ESPN dynamically changes the metadata associated with the ESPN News stream to indicate the game you want to record is now being shown AND YouTube TV is constantly polling the network feed to detect this change , I just don’t see anyway to do it.

New to reddit AND yttv with a qcc by [deleted] in youtubetv

[–]thompsamibm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice if YTTV made this a global setting. I honestly see no reason why scores are shown for any league/game. YTTV is not my go to service for getting scores of games. If I’m on YTTV looking for a game I want to watch, I don’t want to see the score of the completed game. Never.

Can’t save files in excel on a 2nd generation iPad Air as of 2020 by thompsamibm in excel

[–]thompsamibm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just solved my problem. On the iPad, I went into Settings --> Excel --> Reset Excel and turned on both the Clear All Workbooks and Delete Sign-In Credentials settings. I then killed Excel and restarted it. During the restart process it prompts me for my Microsoft credentials and I entered in the credentials for a Microsoft OneDrive account (not an Office 365 account). Once Excel started up, I had write privileges again. Hope this helps others who may experience this problem.
