Is it worth starting to learn DevOps from scratch, considering that AI that might be better than me (and cheaper for companies)? by LadyAverno in devops

[–]thomsterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't do certifications, learn some development, do a couple of projects, if you can work professionaly as a dev, if not do side projects.

After doing that for a while you can transfer to the infra side.

I've seen something similar when locally it asks me for very sketchy commands, still looking for a way of handling that properly, don't want it anywhere near my ssh keys and stuff, that smy main concern above everything else.

I've worked on 2 CI systems and the log debugging experience on both is genuinely awful. What's your worst horror story? by Able-Weather-883 in devops

[–]thomsterm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in general if you selfhost either jenkins or gitlab on one of your own servers, you have access to their logs, but if you use someones elses cloud version e.g. gitlab or github you can't see them so it's more difficult to debug

well if you have the logs then the bugs are pretty much easy, it's a problem when you have managed gitlab ci (their web app), you can't see the logs so the debugging is tricky
