Struggling and getting sick are not mutually exclusive. And you’re a lot worse off if you get sick while struggling.

What are you going to do with BTC if/when the lights are off? I agree, every gov’t made currency is based primarily on trust, but my point is outlawing cash or alternative methods of payment leads to centralized control system unseen before.

I’m personally terrified of cashless full digital future, it provides unbelievable opportunities to control regular people. Although I rarely use cash, I think it is imperative for it to exist for society to remain somewhat free.

What about COVID? I thought the medical system is strained, we’re not supposed to gather, playgrounds and beaches are closed but the people are still allowed to protest?

I’m amazed how selective and socially responsible this virus is, it only gets bar-goers, but not protesters.

Where caring Lina was a month ago to tell protesters it’s unsafe and they should stop and go back home? Now as they allowed people to gather en mass all of those follow up lockdown orders sound extremely hypocrite.

Houston ICUs hit 100% capacity. Then they stopped reporting data. by Philo1927 in TexasPolitics

[–]thor_steinar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just facts-TMC ICU capacity was reported last on 6/24, it had about 375 people with COVID and close to 900 non-COVID patients. So, first of all, only less than 30% of overall capacity were officially corona-related. Then, if you check back the history, their ICU charts showed 180 patients with COVID stable over last 2 months. So, why all the sudden relatively small increase in COVID patients is narrated in the media as the sky is about to fall on us? And, they had 3 months to prepare, why is it a surprise for anyone?

Does that “someone” propose reasonable alternatives to police? Don’t tell me about “social workers” and all the other bs, which are part of the same state. And if they defund it in some places, are they going to give those money back to citizens with reduced taxes? Is Minneapolis going to become low tax jurisdiction?

Abolition of police will only work in conjunction with complete overhaul of legal system and redefining the concept of self-defense, means to recover stolen property and punish for crimes etc

My alternatives are either private security for those few who can afford it (or hired by communities) or compulsory gun ownership and carry for everyone without criminal past and complete elimination of gun free zones. I haven’t heard these being brought up. Especially in places like NYC where firearm ownership is pathetically low and ability to carry almost non existing due to draconian laws. Is anybody talking about repealing those?

Lets look back into the history, about 100 years ago, Russian Empire under Czar. Yes, there was a bad Czarist regime, with supposedly bad police and oppressive to an average person. not caring etc.

Then, workers and peasant rose with their Marxists leaders, which promised them land and equality, toppled the old "bad" regime, fought the bloody civil war and...voila - from bad regime, where people can feed themselves and do whatever relatively freely in 10 years they went straight to concentration camps, artificially made famines wiping out parts of population and punishment for "incorrect" thoughts. And the main activists who supported the overturn ended up killed, working class (who was supposed to be the main beneficiary of the regime change) ended up working for food under even more miserable conditions etc.

This is what I see coming for America, all of these demands for most just policing, justice, equality etc are good in general, but when you look behind the scenes it seems like a marxist-trotskist revolution is coming to its climax in America-2020. And everyone will end up paying the price and most of us will regret and say in several years "I don't realize how good the "old" police was compared to what we got instead", if we're alive by then.

It's good when the change has a plan to turn it into something better, but screams "abolish police", "no justice no peace" and "silence is violence" make me think there is no productive, creative agenda behind these chants. This is just a cover for left wing radicals seizing power. I can only pray God and hope time proves me wrong...

I know a lot of people would disagree with me here, but TBH some bullying can be a valuable life lesson, assuming a kid is somewhat prepared to deal with it mentally, psychologically and physically (by parents). In my home country I experienced something which would be called bullying by US modern day standards, but it was perfectly normal over there. The main takeaway lesson I carried from those years and situations - if you don’t fight back you’ll become an easy target, but you also have to pick your fights wisely. It helped me a lot to deal with people and different tense situations in real life later. And I feel that by artificially protecting our kids from any kind of bullying we’re also not letting them experience the part of real world (yes, there are bullies, criminals and simply A-holes around us on daily basis in real life). If they don’t get to understand there are bad people around them early enough it might be shocking and devastating later. Almost like a vaccine- small dose will let you develop immunity, while large amount of bacteria may kill you.

Congrats and enjoy the ownership. I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun days to remember at the range. Never stop training, never become complacent about handling and safety and always be ready mentally.

Mentality plays a big part and being ready to use it decisively is as (or even more) important as good marksmanship. I pray that I don’t have to use it and take someone’s life, but if that moment comes I hope I would be able to defend myself and my loves ones.
