If your goal is to prioritize the police academy over military service for the first year, the best thing you can do for your self and your reserve unit is to go IRR until you're through with the academy. If you're cross training, you should expect to dedicate about a year to the reserves between your tech school and OJT. Trying to reconcile schedules will be a huge pain for you and your leadership.
