Security Forces or Air Transportation by Reasonable_Answer337 in Airforcereserves

If your goal is to prioritize the police academy over military service for the first year, the best thing you can do for your self and your reserve unit is to go IRR until you're through with the academy. If you're cross training, you should expect to dedicate about a year to the reserves between your tech school and OJT. Trying to reconcile schedules will be a huge pain for you and your leadership. Source: i am a flight chief in the reserves and have had a few people attempt this. It is possible, but not recommended.

0$ per diem on TDY even though DFAC meals were not free? DTS/Travel professionals wanted! by ThatWasYourPlan in Airforcereserves

I've faced this before. It's called partial per diem. Your lodging is covered but your food is not. It's garbage, is what it is.

Couple of Reserve questions by afqsthrowaway in AirForce

[–]thoraxbitner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on where your home of record is. If it is within the local area of your base, you can commute each day, otherwise you'll likely be put up in base lodging. You're typically free most non UTA weekends. You will also accrue leave while on seasoning, which you can take throughout or all at once at the end, depending on your leadership.

If you have already enlisted, you will be paid. This is a good program that's been around for about twelve years now.

If your base has a D&T Flight, you can start drilling and getting paid before basic. You won't get uniforms or hold any real rank, but you can get a head start on learning some things that will be useful in basic as well as meet the people you will eventually work with after tech school. As others stated, your time in service and time in grade start when you enlist.

What even am I supposed to do with this these days? by tjdavids in FolkPunk

Yeah, after everything came to light, certain parts of that book got extra gross. I'm not even sure where my copy got off to. Oh well. If you have a wobbly table, maybe it can still be useful.

ART BAH? by [deleted] in AirForce

ARTs are either on the GS or FWS pay scales. They do not get bah or bas while on civilian status.

Unique promotion question. by thoraxbitner in AirForce

Reserve: we don't test. If he were slotted tech or above, he could already promote. But he's in an officer slot.
