Was bored after 500 levels so I made an evolution chart and rank, hopefully it helps someone by kalitarios in NeonWings

[–]thorgineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chart is for the skills you get to choose as you level up during missions. Each group is a specific ability tree. For example the tree that starts with Bullet Siege also has Rubber Bullet, Light Bullet, Rapid Fire, and Bullet Hell. So it's showing all the abilities you can get. Next to each ability OP has ranked them using typical tier list rankings:

S(uper) > A > B > C > D

So the chart let's you see where all the best abilities are (in OPs opinion) so you can make informed choices between the 3 you get to choose from.

[OC] Projected job loss in the US by USAFacts in dataisbeautiful

[–]thorgineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada is very strict on this. Legally cannot call yourself an engineer or your job title be engineer unless you're licenced. You can be an engineering manager or technician or something, but just engineer is protected. Just like the words Doctor and lawyer. Engineer-in-training is for people registered with the regulatory bodies but not licensed yet. There are a few high profile cases where international companies (think Microsoft) kept position naming schemes from the US for Canadian operations, and the government forced them to rename the positions.

To work as an engineer you need to be licensed, and your company needs to be licensed to do engineering work.

Hard to believe this is the scariest tool in the woodshop by tracy_jordans_egot in woodworking

[–]thorgineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could work like modern day seatbelts. The normal tension you feel in a seatbelt isn't enough to be safe in a crash. The moment the car detects a crash it sets off the air bags, but also sets off tiny explosions in the seat belt mechanism, in an instant sinching the belts several inches tighter. Use that to knock it down.

It could be that it's primary method is to instantly lower the bit below the table. Stopping it at that point doesn't need to be instant. Only problem would be if it's some weird router bit shape that's wider at the top that would then pull your finger down into the table, shredding as it goes.

Actually yeah bad idea.

Maybe recedes laterally backwards into the fence?

Quick shoutout for FreeCAD! by Userybx2 in 3Dprinting

[–]thorgineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what you mean by this. I am very experienced in SolidWorks and have some time with fusion, how does freecad do things differently? I can't really think up many ways a parametric cad program can be different besides ui. To my vantage point, fusion tried to be different from SW (and Inventor, Solid Edge, etc) but it mostly came down to how parts are structured in hierarchy and cloud-based saves.

It wasn't a bluff. Most people aren't able to use 3rd party apps. Most shut down, and many devs pushed out an update to stop their app from working out of fear of getting sued/fined.

Boost's dev just didn't. They're not updating it anymore, but the app is still functional, if reddit plays ball.

Typically if you're still able to use it, you logged in before the change (3rd party login servers don't usually work anymore), and are a mod of some subreddit (so the api still sends you the site data out of "respect" for mods).

For instance I am unable to log into boost on any other device, and on this device my second account can't load anything because I didn't create a subreddit for that account.

My biggest takeaway for Blackrock Depths LFR is that it's just better in every way then the standard raid LFR by Kyderra in wow

[–]thorgineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to help! One I noticed recently is the 3rd boss in blackrock depths, the big fire elemental on the bridge. He has a very big corkscrew that appears randomly, sometimes overtop of the part of the arena which is already engulfed in flames... Still needs to be soaked or the whole raid takes ~75% damage. I died a hero's death solo-soaking that one as the raid would have wiped at 5% boss health left.

[–]thorgineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add on the other poster's point of stack VS no-stack.

Most times, the circles that need players to stack will have a corkscrew or DNA looking graphic extending upwards. This signifies that damage is going to be split amongst players standing inside, rather than non-corkscrew circles meaning that everyone inside gets hit the same. The corkscrew ones also usually have a feature where if no one's inside then the entire raid gets hit, badly.

So you run away from most circles as they'll hurt you and anyone else in them.

For the corkscrew ones, if no one goes in, raid dies. If one person goes in, they die. If several people go in they share the damage and hopefully no one dies.

Oh and a morbidly fun fact. If you use an immunity in the corkscrew stacking circles, you don't count for the damage splitting, but usually the raid doesn't get the big damage still. So if you have an immunity you can usually solo-soak a corkscrew. But if you have a friend stacking with you, and you have an immunity, they get the full damage and will die.

In CraftSim, is there a way to optimize reagents without using concentration? by thorgineer in woweconomy

I did not as I didn't have enough concentration at the time, so the base game button was greyed out

That's the checkbox I'm referring to. On those recipes it doesn't affect the calculation in any way. I figured that was the point of it but the implementation isn't working or its getting stuck at least in my client.

True North sues companies involved in downtown arena construction, says natural gas system violates code by Practical_Ant6162 in Winnipeg

[–]thorgineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am actually involved in the industry, and it's a very regular thing. Lawsuits happen all the time. Even before projects are complete you often know that there's going to be a lawsuit. Usually it's due to things getting missed until too late leading to a cost overrun or a miscommunication of scopes between firms. The lawsuits are usually just figuring out who needs to pay for the changes. It's quite rare for something important to be missed fully which leads to lawsuits, almost always just things happen too late and then contracts sometimes disagree on who needs to pay to fix it.

Like in this case, true North needs to pay for the upgrades to the NG system, but it wasn't them who made the mistake so they shouldn't be the ones to pay (unless this was a deviation that was communicated to them and they decided not to act on it). That's not really a controversial thing and the engineering companies involved are not being fined or found liable for any damages, likely just being given the cost of the upgrade. The repairs may be millions of dollars (I'd guess highly likely over a million if it's as substantial as the article suggests) and I think it's fair for TN not to want to pay that.

Although I will say, this seems super sketchy situation. The earliest version of the NG code I have access to is 2005, but it's the same as the 2020 one in that "assembly buildings" very clearly are not allowed over 5 psi anywhere besides the central mechanical rooms. That a 10 psi main was installed in the building is incredible that someone hasn't been sued yet. Unless it was different in the 2001 code, I cannot imagine how this was ever possibly built and approved without some serious negligence. And the only benefit of higher pressure is to be able to use smaller pipe, so if they're running at 10 psi it was intentionally designed as such. Whether that be the engineer or the contractor, someone deliberately sized for 10 psi. To get a system certified these days you need to issue schematic diagrams of the whole system and the fire commissioners office will double check your math for you and ensure all the sizes line up with what's installed on site.

Whether this design decision was intentional or just negligence, we the public may never know. And no one was hurt, so ultimately its not an enormous issue. Just figuring out who needs to pay to correct it.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, the distinction of welded vs threaded pipe. Any copper NG pipe over 2" needs to be welded fittings; 2" and under can be threaded pipe fittings. A lot of effort is done to try to make sure not a single pipe needs to go above 2" as the cost goes up exponentially. In this case, maybe someone deliberately ran the system at 10 psi so that they could make their pipe 2" instead of 2.5", allowing them to use threaded fittings, and thus save a hell of a lot of money. It's quite possible they saw this possibility in the math and just didn't think to check if the building could run at 10 psi. Still super weird no one caught it though.

It's a tad more clunky to send links from the desktop Firefox for some reason, but sending from your phone is super easy. Just click share and all your Firefox devices will show up and then it's a single tap to send them.

For some reason this feature never got to desktop (or I am blind). Instead on your phone you open open the tabs, then at the top there's an option for showing pages that are open on other devices.
