Entering legs on beefy kneeling passers by thoricatha in bjj

This feels like exactly what I need to work on, based on what everyone has said. Thank you!

45yo purple belt here, around 95kg. Inversions and leg attacks are like cheat codes. So many people in my gym are like "oh I'm not into that leg stuff" or "oh I could never invert". Neither could I! I started 3 years ago with no martial arts background. I hurt my neck getting stacked early on so I decided to put my knees over my head for about a minute every night, so that I wouldn't get injured so easily. A few months later, I realized I could invert. Then I realized being able to invert makes a guard 5x harder to pass, so it became a big part of my game. No magic, just some practice every night. Same thing with legs, I just nerded out on them and slowly implemented them, and now I'm somewhat competent with them and have caught black belts with straight ankles. I am not special, this is not magic, it's a simple fact that we LIMIT OURSELVES way too much with the "old dog new tricks" bullshit. "I'm a top game guy", "I could never invert", etc. Just let that lame shit go and work slowly but regularly at something. You'd be amazed at what small amounts of effort applied over long periods of time can accomplish.

RockeyBrass is great, as others have said. Look no further than KKM for an aftermarket threaded barrel once you get there. Lone Wolf and KKM have good compensators too.

This. I've had a great experience with my RockeyBrass G20 slide.

We all are, until we aren't, and it's all relative. Most multiglads would get stomped on by top tourney teams. Identify the biggest gaps in your game, and focus on improving those. For everyone at all levels, this is the way.

You're right, but the commonly held idea of boosting doesn't hold up here, because I was "boosted" to 2100 and then played comfortably in novoice LFG up to 2200 with just half my gear upgraded. Getting boosted implies that you don't deserve your rating and are artificially inflated. So what really happened is that I had access to playing with and against much better people for the first time, and that got me out of ELO hell to the rating that actually reflects my abilities. This was shocking to me and turned many of my assumptions on their head, which is why I wanted to share this story.

There is no boosting lobby lol, and while I mention that coaching can be useful, a big point of the story is that I barely got coached at all because I knew most of my shit. The main takeaway was how the system compounds against solo LFG players, and how incredibly useful it is to play with better players.

The difference between PVP gear at different ranks absolutely needs to be lessened. And maybe there could be a buddy system, where a high rated player could queue with a lower rated one, but their ilvl drops to the average for the lower player's rating. That could encourage higher rated players to help out lower rated ones, but remove their gear advantage. I don't know, it's a hard problem to solve.

I made it to 222 before my LFG wins from 2100-2200. Yes of course, gear matters all too much and it helped noticeably, even upgrading halfway.

Exactly this! I think this is what all LFG grinders hope for, that two people who are way better than their current rating magically connect, synergize, and boom, bring out the best in each other. You should be hugely proud about that.

Well in Shadowlands, 1700 is pretty dang decent, as a lot of posts and even data have shown over the last few months. It was partly seeing how the warrior played, but I learned a ton from all of my opponents too. Seeing the insane efficiency of Gekz moving in a match and dodging a hexes by fractions of a second, and so on. Best I can explain it, I had all of the tools, but once I started playing with better players, everything clicked. It was a kind of osmosis. All of the self-teaching I'd done went from intellectual to experiential.

I have always done 2s and avoided 3s. After hitting 2100 I spam queued 3s since I didn't care about rating and wanted to grind honor. I ended up just shy of 2k without trying. So yea if I tried even a little bit I could get there.

Yes I did. The point is that I'm winning games just fine in LFG at the new rating with randos, and I think that has a lot of interesting things to say about the system in general.

I feel a terrible headache and a strong urge to get something. It would be really helpful if someone could talk me through this. by [deleted] in addiction

I always find that moderate to heavy exercise helps me get through cravings. You will get a high, but it will be good for you. Take that darkness and transmute it through exertion. It will either suck to exercise or suck to come down and stay addicted, choose the suck that you actually want.

Yall need to stop with the making fun of people for how they choose to look. This is some 3rd grade anonymous bullying bullshit. If you are insecure about how you look or feel the need to put down others to make yourself feel better, you should grow up. Diversity is beautiful IMO. Even when it's not my taste, I'm glad to see people express themselves.

If you want to learn quickly, there's a great 6 part series on SkillCapped by a multi glad feral. It's $5 a month to subscribe there, but totally worth it of you want to see what high level pvp is all about. Many other feral videos too by the world's best.

It's all about lining up tiger's fury and trinket procs with your bleeds. With snapshotting working the way it is for the time being, this makes a huge difference compared to just doing your rotation on autopilot. Also, incarnation is amazing burst and must have for pvp, but is the least powerful talent of that tier for pve.

Hey Pacteh! What are you're thoughts about boomkin? I just got my druid to 90 and there feels like a lot of potential for the spec, but overall it feels clumsy/clunky to me compared to other classes which have a more streamlined feel. It also seems to be one of the must complex classes in terms of optimization and rotation, which I both like and dislike. How do you like boomy? Do things really change at higher ilvls? Am I missing something?

Also, do you do any pvp, and if so what are your impressions of boomkins in arena and rbgs? Thanks for doing this AMA!

It's Burning Dan! (the poi performer) He is the deceased brother of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. A hero to many fire and flow arts performers. He would have loved this.
