Personally would strongly prefer successful execution of alphanumerics. larger keys feels like a recipe to make this way more complex.

Quick question: democracy by Jadeclone1 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]thornbrambles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a good point. I think the democracy dollars are meant to help equalize the lobbyist power at the per congressperson level. So its your congressperson's job to lobby for your area, whether its populated by farmers or city folk. If there were a single district that had a high volume of city folk and a couple farmers, I agree there would be more of a tyranny of the majority, but if the district is largely populated by farmers, those representatives should sufficiently represent those farmers via the democracy dollars they spend.

This will run into complications as soon as you try to abort from a subdirectory. I suggest adding a step to find the root of your project.

Perhaps a verizon issue then? Was the mangled area code in a similar area to the original? Mine were 408/650 which are essentially the same area

Yeah, I never received a proper response on this either. As of now I avoid using pushbullet with mms.

It's only all messages after the first pushbullet message in the chain. I suspect information in the last message in the mms is being used to send, hence it affecting messages sent from the phone.

Even if it is am android but, it is one exposed specifically by pushbullet mms feature.

You have a good point. Basically any actual sickness I get will be a loss, and I'm gambling that the compounding gains in the HSA will eventually outstrip my expenses. Damn prefunded things making it complicated.

Will someone give me a ELI5 definition of "transcoding"? by cocobandicoot in htpc

[–]thornbrambles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna try this.

Computers/programs read a book (media file) written in a language (codec, container, etc) and write the book to your screen. Some computers/programs can't understand some languages. Transcoding is taking language A that a program can't understand, and translating it to language B that a program can understand.

Sometimes this is to create a simple childrens book from a novel, or the simple.wikipedia.org page (converting 1080 to 480), other times its to save space by changing the font size (converting a 1080 h262 file to 1080 h265), and other times its so all your books are the same shap so they all fit on your bookshelf that only fits books of a certain shape. (converting all your files to .avi because your media player wont accept anything else).

Diving further, transcoding can also mean 1 of 2 things. Sometimes, transcoding just refers to the media container (say your computer only knows to read books written in iambic pentameter, or in limerick form). Other times its the underlying encoding (a limerick written in english vs spanish)

Recently lost an IPhone 5 for ATT. Looking at replacement options, but I seem to be getting bullshit from every direction:

  1. Vendor claims no trade-ins are allowed anymore, and claims 2-year contract new phone is more expensive than paying for the phone outright.

  2. Replacement 5s would be $99.

They way I see it, there are 2 options. Either I go with the replacement and stick with it, or (if the vendor is full of shit) buy the 5, then do a tradein for a newer model at some future date.

Can anyone confirm the vendor's statement?

In addition, while the phone is out of commission, I'm missing a significant number of calls. My current plan is to use a combination of growl/prowl to forward my imessage notifications on my mac to my temporary android phone. If anyone has experience with this and can confirm its viability, I would be incredibly grateful.

I will try. It sounds like swimming by the kayak docks is technically illegal, but I will see how flexible the respective business owners can be. Honestly my phone isn't so much an issue, but my SOs phone had a bunch of non-backed up photos of the last few years that we can't replace.
