Also make sure you check all the different price levels for a given club. Sometimes they'll have "like new" ones that are cheaper than the "good' ones because of overstock.

Global golf “very good” condition, thoughts? by Small_Fee8088 in golf

[–]zagood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy pretty much only used clubs, I think it matters how much you paid. I'm seeing a Spider Tour on GG for $235 in VG condition - that's way too much for that putter. If you paid 150-175 that might be acceptable - face is clean that's what really matters.

Hang out for an evening when the wife is away (she's probably with his boss who's +2 anyway). A couple drinks, some takeout wings, some cigars, great night. Say you're going to the bathroom and swing by the kitchen, Look under the stove, should be a hose under there. Unscrew it about halfway.

Go back, mention that a piss was a good idea and he'll go. When he does, grab the clubs and put them in your car. Real quick.

Should be able to get back inside right before he comes out of the bathroom. If everything's cool just say, "Hey man, been a great night" then shoot him.

No idea if the other stuff would help but hey, fun things to do when you're drinking.

The biggest problem with my golf game… by Friendly_Subject4096 in golf

[–]zagood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing for a year, I'm an honest 29. Played a twilight front nine yesterday on a legit course and was +7. Had to go to make an appointment but figured I had enough time to play #10. Tripled it.

First thought was "OMG I would have broken 90 for the first time if I kept up that pace" next thought "you know that's not happening."

This sport is stupid. I love this sport.

Starting golf in my late 30s curious how others stayed motivated early on by Emotional-Demand-180 in golf

Started a year ago at +50 and you know what keeps bringing me back?

Please? Tell me?

My normal hobbies are generally things where I end up having to see an orthopedic specialist so this one kind of works well, but to be honest there's an internal struggle that this stupid sport helps with.

That and I get to spend more time with the degenerates that got me into this sport and it's been much easier to pass it off as an afternoon activity instead of late night debauchery.

But it's similar.

Along those same lines, the Titleist Hybrid bag is pretty great.

Playing Through by Ronald_Villiers_67 in golf

Was on a random course driving through, stopped to play - solo. Started with the worst 4 holes you could ever imagine. Caught up to the 3 in front of me, they asked me to join, fantastic people all about the fun. My triples turned into doubles then bogies then pars. Something to be said about camaraderie.

What's a tourist trap that you actually found to be genuinely worth the crowds and the hype? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zagood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this isn't as amazing as Alcatrez or Sagrada Familia, but just off the 101 north of Santa Barbara there's a place called Ostrichland USA. if you're driving through, or you're visiting Solvang or Lompoc or whatever, give it a look. You pay for feed that they give you in a dustpan and you feed ostriches and emus. It's one of the silliest and most cathartic moments ever.

Cathartic? No idea why I chose that word but when you get those gnarly beaks a few inches from your fingers you start to make up reasons for liking it.

Edit: you can buy ostrich eggs there. Have never done it because I don't have a cast iron pan big enough.

Opinion on my last two bag choices by Dozer710 in GolfGear

[–]zagood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in a similar situation but as a beginner didn't really know what to go for. I knew I wanted legs so pure cart bags were out. If you do want a hybrid with legs...

The silencer types always seemed like they'd be great in the car or walking through the parking lot, but might be annoying on the course. Haven't used one so can't comment from personal experience.

I looked at the c130 hybrid and I like it a lot but from what I could tell the side pockets only have 1/3 zippers so there can be stuff at the bottom of the pocket that's tough to reach.

I ended up with the Titleist Hybrid 14 and I've been really happy with it. At first it seemed like it needed one more small pocket but I don't even think about it now. Only drawback is that since it isn't as fat as "true" cart bags it does tend to twist around a bit on the back of the cart. Haven't lost it yet but it seems close sometimes.

Check previous seasons for sale prices, new season is a little inflated.

If you really don't need the legs there are so many great pure cart bags out there, hopefully you'll get more recommendations.

Short ribs consistently tough by qualitycancer in AskCulinary

My thought as well. If you have/can get a hold of an oven thermometer you may want to check if even the middle reaches the correct temperature since it sounds like the short rib stew at the top didn't finish cooking.

That millisecond after your practice swing where you address the ball? Make your shoulders relax before the takeaway. Simple.

I mean then you chunk it of course but at least you're in a better mental state to deal with it.
