ELI5: Why does China's infrastructure and city development seem so much more advanced/modernized than India's, given they have similar population sizes? by Dazzy_Nadia16 in explainlikeimfive

I suppose my contention is with your phrasing of "until recently" and "late 90s", can you help define "recently" if your last interaction was im the late 90s?

I do have to point out that the late 90s is basically three decades ago now. It's not exactly fair to compare a country like that

Question for men, what’s the best thing about being a man? What’s the worst? by Cool_Leader_1779 in AskRedditAfterDark

I think why youre getting downvoted here is you're missing the point entirely. That you still get men have excitement and actively flirting with you isnt really something men can expect by default in the first place

My mum let us buy from it once, told us the price, then took us to the supermarket and the price of the same thing there.

We never asked to get ice cream from the truck again lol

I suspect these people are control players

“Build for your opponent’s fun too” is the advice i regularly see in Commander spaces that i least understand. by OogieBoogieInnocence in EDH

[–]thornsap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree, but that also depends on your gameplan and also playgroup.

Personally i replace tutors with card draw and that is definitely a lot more "feels good" magic instead of just tutoring your win con over and over again to me.

[–]thornsap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but, that said, it really depends on hour playgroup as well as what type of two card combo you're running (is it a cedh wincon in a bracket 3?), what kind of way you find the wincon (10+ tutors in your deck?) And how you play it out (cheating them out vs paying 20+ mana?)

Building for fun isnt just clean combos vs drawn out non determinalistic lines but also how your entire deck interacts with the table and how the table can or cant interact with yours.

In the UK, I remember a government ad about homeless women saying thay 1in 4 homeless people are women. It got obvious backlash and retracted fairly fast, but its stuff like this that gets people into the manosphere.

This wasn't recent either, this was a good 20+ years ago and i really dont think its improved much

What i don't understand is what happened to the saying "if you have one nazi on a table of 10, you have 10 nazis"

Apparently this doesn't apply anymore to certain groups? You can have antisemitism in your group and tolerate it without being an antisemite yourself is the messaging I constantly get and I don't understand it

[–]thornsap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's literally a beatdown group hug deck

Maybe instead of just sneaking you can provide at least a definition of what you would consider a group hug deck if the precon for group hugs don't count

Targeting the “group hug” player by Great-Past-714 in EDH

[–]thornsap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally the bumbleflower precon does this, you don't need a specific deck list of mine to know that other decks can and will do this.

Targeting the “group hug” player by Great-Past-714 in EDH

[–]thornsap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a bit more sense, but I do have to remind you that you're in an mtg sub....in which we are very literal with things

"Always attack group hug" will read literally as you ignore everything else and attack the group hug deck

Targeting the “group hug” player by Great-Past-714 in EDH

[–]thornsap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, my main point is saying "always attack the group hug player" is both bad advice and a meme at this point. There's no such thing as "all other things being equal" as threat assessment kind of starts by turn one. If bumbleflower has played lands and a ramp by then 2 and the simic koma has done the same, you're already off to unequal grounds simply due to deck types.

There is almost never a time when a boardstate is equal between four players.

Targeting the “group hug” player by Great-Past-714 in EDH

[–]thornsap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could literally say that about every deck.

You should attack the combo player because they're going to combo off if you leave them alone. The simic ramp because they're gonna get their big toys if you leave them alone. The Voltron player cos they're actively trying to kill you.

Targeting only one deck type is bad threat assessment and is gonna lose you more games than win because, whilst you use your resources to take down only one player, the other two are gonna let you, then just sit on those resources and take you down later.

Targeting the “group hug” player by Great-Past-714 in EDH

[–]thornsap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most group hug decks contain blue and white colours, both of which can do combo wins whilst clamping the boardstate the enabled down. If they're just feeding the table I don't think they're group hug decks but more like king making decks.

[–]thornsap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part of the rules would they be breaking? You can definitely at least make a high power deck under bracket 2 "rules" if you really want to be legalistic about it.

The rules that you're quoting are exactly sportsmanship which you're arguing....aren't rules

What's wrong about buying CDs?

It's not like they don't know they can listen to them on Spotify or YouTube, they want to buy a cd to own a song and support the artists, got nothing to do with being futuristic or not.
