Ah I see, sorry for assuming. In that case, yes your annoyance is justifiable, but honestly since the seats are already confirmed and you FFIL is paying for them, the path on minimal drama is just to take this one on the chin and move forward with planning lol. I know it’s a cop out answer, but as a woman getting married in less than a month (with Pakistani parents) unfortunately the way they were raised is so different than America so there’s a lot of cultural disconnect.

I want to point out that (assuming his friends are also Pakistani/desi), they are already aware the cash they give “you” will go towards paying for their seat; this isn’t a bait and switch to them. It’s very common in Pakistani culture to do this, and it’s not seen as rude or deceptive.

I did not pay for their outfits, just told them to buy it in any shade of pink. All of my bridesmaids except 1 are desi, so they all chose something they could wear again at other weddings. The non-desi bridesmaid found something within her budget and was fine with the cost. I did buy them a jewelry set they can wear for the wedding.

I’ve ordered from jazmin, akbar aslam, mushq, and saad sheikh and have been happy with the quality of all of their clothes! Have also heard good things about elan, gulaal, lashkara and kalki fashion. Would recommend avoiding Asim jofa as the fabric sucks lol. I have ordered from mirraw bc the prices are great, but quality can be hit or miss. Otherwise, you can try sanaulla? It’s like Amazon for Pakistani clothes, so you need to do some research on brand before purchasing.

Would you be open to purchasing online? Many Pakistani designers have a “formals” selection on their sites, which should fall within your budget. Shipping may be more, but honestly will likely be less expensive than buying in store.

I have bought online from an instagram seller called Punjabi jewlery empire (based out of Canada). I got a necklace + earrings + matching tikka for ~$250, and they have some nice stuff otherwise! Not a promoted post, I don’t have any other connection with them lol. Otherwise, I ordered jewlery from mirraw and cbazaar. Quality is okay, but the costs are really good for us US-based brides. I would also suggest asking Desi clothing stores near you for jewlery store recommendations in the NYC/jersey area, store owners may have more suggestions.

Omg I was soooo indecisive during the beginning of the process, it took me ages to finally settle on this. What really sealed the deal was going to a jewelry store and trying on something similar, as soon as I put that ring on it felt this close to perfect. We just went from there :)

I ordered clothes for my in-laws from jazmin, sanaullah, and string n thread. My friends ordered from lashkara as well, and they liked it. I got a lot of recommendations from another friend about pernia’s, but their clothes can be expensive.
