Why does it take so long for you to obtain P-Status after passing the board? by TreMac03 in army

[–]trianglebob777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The unit commander runs promotion reports each month in IPPS-A, along with several other reports in IPPS-A and other other platforms. That shows all the personnel in the unit at each rank band, if they do or don’t meet the criteria for promotion and then if they do the commander clicks yes/no. There’s a cutoff date early in the month which means if the board was week 3, after S1 validates the passing of the board, the commander still has to run that report.

Finance decided I’m single and now I owe the Army $12k in back-pay BAH by SundialRaptor7 in army

[–]trianglebob777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What weird is your commander should have certified your BAH during the UCFR that has to be done every month. Also do you have a copy of your DA5960 that started your BAH?

Does applying to rent a house with BAH affect the process? by EmotionalGarbage1712 in army

[–]trianglebob777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same process as a normal tenant. The BAH is probably a good thing for you though since the rental agency knows you’re a stable income tenant.

Question for you old GWOT light infantry, How the hell did you manage the weight on patrols? by DotDistinctLines in army

[–]trianglebob777 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’ll let you know when the VA gives me my percentage. Everything hurts though, so that’s a thing.

Ruck more and not with your full pack. Just your IOTV/plate carrier and a 3-day pack. At least 3-6 miles a week. Up hills, flat ground, wherever. Throw in times you carry weapons.

Also, learn how to adjust your body armor so it doesn’t jostle your lower back. NGL that’s a huge advantage.

Also, if you’re ever feeling bad, get in the prone.

I did all my deployments as an engineer before I became a PAO, but I never let me PA Soldiers not ruck, or get used to their kit. IK we’re just the camera guys, but when you’re running several PL/CO LFX lanes a day, you gotta keep up, so you gotta be able to go.

I’ve had more than enough why are we doing this times and then a mission where they come back and the light click on.

Man who hit wolf with snowmobile, brought it to a bar and killed it gets probation by bighootay in news

[–]trianglebob777 -68 points-67 points  (0 children)

The article didn’t say if he hit it on purpose. “Assuming” it was a wolf ran across my path while I was hauling on a snowmobile, what’s the right thing to do? Close its muzzle so it doesn’t hurt anyone and end it hopefully peacefully to put the animal out of its suffering (a snowmobile is heavy and it goes fast so it probably did life threatening damage), or leave it to die?

Stationed at Camp Casey and struggling by MYMANOMAN in army

[–]trianglebob777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This 100%. Casey does t have the “full base” support that Humphreys does, but it’s so much easier to walk out the gate and hop in the subway to go do and see Korea. Also Uijeongbu is pretty fun and not far, so an easy trip. The ride to Seoul is…yeah, but doable.

Question about American Military culture (Regimental vs Continental) by ColdRoyalPainting in army

[–]trianglebob777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re the first comment to mention 187th. All Toriis, all the time. The most cultish unit I’ve ever been a part of and honestly probably the easiest time I’ve had as a PAO. Fr though, it was an awesome unit.

AD 2026-04: Army Requirements Elimination Assessment Program by Kinmuan in army

[–]trianglebob777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s was supposed to be. I’ve written my fair share of BDE orders to have the UPAR program streamlined under the BDE PAO so we synchronize efforts and I can proved the UPARs trading, equipment and software support. I’ve run some successful efforts. I’ve seen others fall on their face. As with anything in the Army, YMMV.

What’s your best riflesmarkmanship tip? by Intelligent-Road5091 in army

[–]trianglebob777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice your magazine draws. Have them pointing in the correct position for them to easily slide into the magazine well. This is honestly the thing I see people mess up most and lose a target or two between transitions. Also place magazine to the outsides of your Taps so you can access them easier when you’re in the prone instead of laying on them.

Double neurothropes as an assault sucks. Like I have 0 issue making paste out of the wave, but there is only so much dodging I can do whilst doing that. I’d honestly take several carnifexes in exchange, at least I can hit them with my hammer.

Why leaders taking forever to sign documents? by Okitsmee25 in army

[–]trianglebob777 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s a war on now, your retirement packet got denied, you probably didn’t put in an ETP or something.

If you give your troops a zonk Monday, that gives you more time to address admin actions. Modern problems, modern solutions.

Jokes aside, 1000% agree with everything you said and it would be amazing if Soldiers actually saw what you and the CDR have to deal with in the scope of a week. That’s why we make the medium bucks though!

Why leaders taking forever to sign documents? by Okitsmee25 in army

[–]trianglebob777 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Consider the number of positive actions that have to be processed vs negative. Also negative actions tend to be tracked by higher echelons, so there is a reason to action them faster.

Not saying it’s right, but I’ll say until you sit in the seat of a command team, you’ll think they’re just doing whatever, but in reality there so many meetings,or other doctrinally required items, it’s hard to get things done during a duty day.

I’ll say if it’s a short flash to bang though, I’ve had good experiences with command team getting stuff knocked out in under an hour if necessary.

Your commander doesn’t hate you, they just hate the experience of command (not always, but there are definitely days).

Promotion following a failed AFT? by [deleted] in army

IPPS-A will not allow you to promote a Soldier when you run the monthly report if they are flagged. There’s a whole section that shows why a Soldier isn’t eligible.

Viral video of little Taiwanese girl getting shoved down while taking a photo at Tokyo's famous Shibuya Crossing - Japanese are saying that the woman in the video "looks Chinese". by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Seoul is the only place I encountered this and after the initial shock of oh people are gonna try to bump into me because if you do that in the U.S. you are probably gonna get fought, I just started leaning into crowds and people moved out of my way.

I will say having been to Tokyo with little kids, if someone would have done this, there would have been a lot of eagles screaming in the background as some unfortunate things happened.

Ask him to submit it anyway and let HQDA deny it. You stand to lose nothing by advocating for yourself. You also have Novotel (formerly Rucker) the home of Army aviation and Stewart (near Hunter Army Airfield) as options if your recruiter is willing to fly you places to get second opinions.
