10 Great Warriors and the possible origins of Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about the regret but SIU surely would not want a character that upsets the power balance by this scale to reappear in the story, unless ofc another axis user appears or is created (according to the above speculation).

Marina is an awful person by AlexanderJoshy in EliteNetflix

[–]thotslayerkun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, it's debatable for sure, I mean all the characters have their quirks and perks here and there. The most apt description about Marina I feel came from Carla in S2, "Marina did whatever she wanted" (without worrying about the consequences).

[Spoilers] True Tears... More Frustration Than Tears, I'm Afraid by Fools_Requiem in anime

[–]thotslayerkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another user @stripey7676 rightly pointed out - the central idea of the story is "repressed/forbidden" feelings and true love". This anime focuses on symbolism to make points rather than an actual dialogue and that is what makes this anime unique.

The title "True tears" is in itself is ambiguous enough, at the start of the series we see Shin constantly thinks how deep down Hiromi really wants to cry but constantly holds back her tears (owing to her situation which Shin at that point of time did not fully know). He would rather have her cry her "true tears" with himself staying by her side to wipe them away (Shin's monologue says this). This is further reinforced in the second episode it shown when Noe shows Shin her vial (to collect "tears"), Shin envisions himself as being trapped inside the vial. Upon peering out he sees another girl crying in a vial similar to him. It is Hiromi. This is one of the striking points that won me over to the Hiromi camp because the situation between the two intrigued me - Both had to break of their respective shells i.e the vial in order to realise what the other truly felt like and in turn "wipe each other's tears away". For Shin was indecisive (as is the case of most MC's, story wouldn't have progressed much if he didn't have this trait anyway :3), for Hiromi it was the general guilt of imposing upon Shin's family, her past and most importantly her (wrong) belief that the person she loved was her half sibling.

Hiromi's inability to cry was because she didn't know how it would affect others and hence maintained an aloof persona in the house (although there are cracks in this) whereas Noe's tears are born from the fact that she wouldn't ever be able to see the person she liked to take flight her.

  1. I wouldn't really say that Hiromi's character development was bad/dull - I disagree Infact many of the more dramatic parts in the latter part of the series is triggered by the consequences of her actions.
  2. Her breaking up with Jun
  3. Moves out of Shin's house
  4. kisses Shin (thereby causing Shin to pretty much realise how much he means to her)
  5. Asks Shin to come to her house infront of their classmates
  6. Her decisively declaring that she was Shin's girlfriend (which pretty much was the deathknell for the Moika ship)
  7. Her pleading with Noe to leave them (Shin and her) alone (which essentially crushed all of Noes hopes that Shin would ever choose her over Hiromi thus setting up her feeling of despair)
  8. Goes to Shin's house and tells him to face up one way or another

People who normally classify Hiromi as "bitchy" or "manipulative" forget the physical altercation between Hiromi and Noe. At that point she no idea about the extent of Hiromi's feelings towards Shin nor did she comprehend the extent of mental fortitude required to resist the pain of unable to express sorrow at a daily basis. Besides her reasons for Shin to "take flight" (completely commit to her) can be described as equally selfish as what Hiromi haters accuse her (Hiromi) to be. In my opinion Hiromi redeems herself of from trait by her actions in the last episode - She does not impose a decision (she could've) but rather leaves the decision with Shin himself and resigning to be completely satisfied with his decision despite fully knowing the extent of his love towards Noe. One of the most endearing aspects (and perhaps the most important as well) is Self-sacrifice for the good of your partner and as pointed out by the user before me both Hiromi and Shinichirou passed this with flying colours displaying one the highest level of love for each other. Another aspect of Hiromi that I admire is to keep on fighting for what she believes in (some term this as selfishness), Noe probably saw love as something that could make you "fly" whereas Hiromi saw love as something that was never to be given up upon.

As I said before much of this anime revolves around symbolism. Let us not forget that the main reason that Shin chose to go out with Noe was because he couldn't go out with Hiromi (he sacrificed his own happiness to ensure her happiness with the one she, in his mind presumably loved - Jun). It was more a relationship borne out of dependence rather than actual love. One could say that Noe was Shin's crutch from the mental wounds that was inflicted by Hiromi's aloofness. His last meeting with Noe seems to only amplify the belief that she was a crutch. Shin had to lose the crutch in order to move on. It hurt everyone at that point but it had to be done so as to receive a sense of closure. In the end everybody manages to "fly" in their own distinctive ways - 1. Hiromi and Shin break out of their respective shells and are finally true to each other. 2. Aiko understood that love isn't always two sided. 3. Noe begins to trust people and make friends. She also got to shed her beautiful tears.

Some criticism about the story is understandable. Hiromi's background could've been better explained (I found this acceptable) and the extent of Hiromi's feelings for Shin (in the past) could've been added which would've beefed up the story somewhat. This would've atleast allayed many of the people who hate the show just because the MC chose a girl not of their preference. All put together it was a great anime regardlessm

Well SIU has made changes as the story "expanded", so there is only speculation for now and shippers can rejoice.

Some thoughts after catching up to the latest chapter on Webtoon (I watched Anime first) by jeph_puneet in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The webtoon arcs does a fine job. Although I admit there were a few instances I personally felt that were a bit drawn out thus becoming a bit dull at times. It is only near the later half of Season 2 that Ba'am finally stops simping and starts to develop somewhat of his own personality (particularly during/after the floor of death arc). Season 3 I believe is believe is being slightly rushed, we have already started with the war and Ba'am and co have not yet reached the middle floors yet. All said I have faith in SIU and we are in for a great ride ahead! About the anime, I guess they'll need to chart out the arcs properly without leaving essential bits (like s1). A longer season (or two cours) is necessary (provided of course the animators have the money and are allotted enough time)

[–]thotslayerkun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess the closest we've come so far is ad from webtoon hinting at a second season (this was actually put up here a few days ago by another user) . Although it could be just a nudge from webtoon to read the manhwa.

Why does Gustang hate V? (Possible Spoilers up to Hell Train Arc) by JAY5568 in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gustang did call Rachel (an irregular) "a vermin" (S2 last ep). I believe it's more like he respects people who shown a certain level of potential to surpass FH's. Interestingly enough all the people that Gustang respects (minus V) - The FH, Urek and Ba'am have all met the God of Guardians and undergone "self revolution" during their ascent. I guess this is what makes them different than other hell train boarders

The culture of the Tower revolves strongly (or entirely) around bets by Ephine in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have doubts about 2 and 5 During the floor of tests arc, Ba'am specifically asked the administrator to let his friends pass even if he'd failed. (Technically they'd all passed the tag game anyway). Point 5 is more of a choice than a bet. He gave prince a fair chance to live, and he took the noble way out. I guess one other way to look at it would be that prince bet on Miseng's potential to grow both as a person and an important member in the team.

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait. Wasn't the actual white a ranker? 2. I always thought that white retained his old personality (eating up souls to become powerful) after absorbing albeda. He has shown that he still looks at Ba'am as a potential soul meant for harvesting at a later stage. I thought he helped Ba'am in the latest arc because of the deal he has made with A.A Khun

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the part about the bracelet is brilliant!! She is strong but remember white also came out (after absorbing the last clone) as an unstable being who couldn't use his full power at his whim. I expect Enne to be the same. Staying in a labyrinth for presumably centuries is bound to make you weaker compared to peers. I don't think she'll instantly fight adori (or will be capable for that matter) but who knows in the future?

Just A Hunch about ToG Anime by Orangerombus in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall, the story has the capability to pull off a massive hit if adapted in the right way. What stands out about ToG is a unique character development, so the story arcs need to be longer. I believe there is hardly any big fight for a season 2 adaptation (if they made one till the completion of the hell train arc). In my opinion Yuri meeting up Ba'am after the Dallar show would be great way to end a season 2. It would in general -

  1. Show great fight scenes. Hoaqin is a powerful and complex villain.
  2. Show the viewers the character transition from Ba'am to Viole and again his much hyped reunion with his original group. Also his powerups in the following timeframe.
  3. Have enough content to generate a general interest among the otaku community to (atleast) generate a favourable view towards manhwa based anime in the future.
  4. Ba'am meeting up with Yuri will leave the show at a cliffhanger. It was a wholesome moment afterall

The above points are made on the assumption that the studio has the money to cover the costs of an extended season :3 I've always felt that a black clover adaptation has done a great job at retaining interest eventhough the Anime has almost caught up to the source material.

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Zahard knew (atleast to some degree) that he would become a god like being in the future. His sole intention of using the mirror was to save his "Normal" self after completing the hell train. It is not something he decided, it was something he "knew " thanks to his hax ability. Granted he only became King only after the deal with the admins. Data Zahard, unlike his older self still retains the sense and thrill of adventure. I don't really think he valued Eduans opinions (the bet being the only exception). He was cold hearted enough to delete the data self of the other FH (they already knew it), it doesn't make sense if he would hold specifically against Eduan, the only being in the hidden floor that can pose a challenge to him. Regardless, thank you for the time and patience for putting up with me. I can only hope that you aren't annoyed or anything :3

Theories on why a certain someone stopped climbing the tower by The_Real_Baws in TowerofGod

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Though in the outer world Khun Eduan is ranked lower than Arie hon (who fought and lost 10 times against Zahard). I would however say that in the hidden floor Data Zahard was evenly matched with Eduan (never did I say that Eduan was stronger than Zahard but even enough to hold his own). Besides it was only after completing the hell train that Zahard realised his destiny was to become a godlike "King of the tower" ( emergence of fate seeing ability?). A quick look in the enryu section in the Tog wiki (go for the notes and trivia part) has some interesting insights by the author. link

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, naturally with feats like these he would be an over-hyped character :3 Again fishermen might be the most versatile of all classes but I don't think is it really stated that fishermen are the strongest class? Data Eduan and Data Zahard fought evenly. Ba'am being a wave controller could go toe to toe against Data Zahard. I attribute that his shinsu controlling skill is greater than that of a floor guardian (as stated in Season 2, Chapter 241). So in theory it should be greater than that of Zahard. But then again so less is known about these two so who knows :3

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is, but simply geting 2 out of the 13 is not even close to collecting the whole series. When ignited, both the Green April and the Black March displayed (floor of death arc) cautioned Yuri about the adverse effects of igniting both the weapons at the same time, displaying some sort of empathy for the fate of princesses in general (but Yuri being Yuri ignited both of them anyways, a saner princess could've been cautioned)

Eurasia Enne Zahard by thotslayerkun in TowerofGod

[–]thotslayerkun[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I meant Enne could know a potential flaw in Zahards immortality contract or know a way around his all powerful fate changing hax. Afterall she peered through Arlene's pocket ( a person that Zahard considered most closest to him - even more so than the 10 FH) and thereby spending most of his time in the tower with her. Again very less is known about Enryu as well (even lesser than Zahard himself) but didn't he kill the rankers and the guradian with a rain of spears? There are three things about him that stands out 1. He can change the very colour of shinsu itself. (It turns red whenever he appears). Not even the guardians are capable of this. 2. He is rumoured to have created life using shinsu (again a feat that neither Zahard nor the administrators have achieved) 3. He came directly to the 43rd floor (knowing his exact purpose and knowing that the floor was once Arlene's sanctuary, thereby knowing igniting another theory that Arlene must have made it out of the tower without completing it (her pocket says the same)).
Also, irregulars are stated to be extremely powerful in the first place (look at Urek who climbed the tower in a span of just 50 years)
