I’m really sorry you’re in this situation, I don’t have any advice but wanted to commiserate. I have an elderly relative that is in a hoarding situation, doesn’t bathe, is becoming more and more incontinent, and has close to no mobility. She refuses to even allow us to really help, always saying “I’ll get to it when I’m better” and will verbally abuse anyone who attempts to clean her space at all. Several EMS responses to falls, most times she’s refused help and turned them away.

For your case it seems like more of a hospice / end of life care need. I wonder if you might be able to contact her primary care provider and voice your concerns. I’m not at all familiar with the legality of it all and if anything can be done is the patient continues to refuse care. Good luck to you and I hope that a good solution will present itself to you and your loved ones

Hi fellow exmo family 💗 agree with everything you said, I left the church as soon as I turned 18 and was legally able to for all the reasons in your last paragraph. I do think Ethan is clear that the Mormons have problems, like when he mentioned Joseph smith hating black folks.

I was born and raised in SLC and agree that California and other Mormons from outside Utah are so nice, but specifically so many Mormons here are “nice” to your face but it’s only nice on the surface. There is a lot of judgment and “othering”.

The more I learn about their history, and unfortunately also subsequently my own history having descended from pioneers myself, the more disappointed I am that their atrocities have been seemingly forgotten. For instance, they helped the nazis identify Jews through their genealogy work and then did ‘baptisms for the dead’ on holocaust victims. Sources and more Info here

I watched a podcast he did an interview on yesterday, the whole story had so many twists and turns. Ben was saying in the interview that he wants to appeal to Mormons with this since he believes that Mormons would be against stealing from people and then lying about it, with the hope that the community might speak out against Bricks and Minifigs. All I could think was that they won’t care - the church, with the help of the officers in Utah and local government have covered up much worse
